Government is sensitive to your needs, Ekpenyong tells youths

The Special Assistant to Governor Godswill Akpabio on Youth Mobilization and PDP youth Leader, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong Bassey, has assured Akwa Ibom youths that the government of the state is sensitive to their plights.

He stated this in his press statement to mark the annual International Youth Day (IYD). The youth leader and Chairman of Akwa Ibom Youth Caucus, said that as a youth friendly governor, Chief Akpabio has the interest of youths at heart and urged them to support his Uncommon Transformation drive so that his plans and vision for them (youths) will be actualized.


Hon. Ekpenyong also urged youths to exhibit the spirit of patriotism and selflessness to Nigeria in order to take the country to greater heights, saying they have a key role role to play in the growth of the most populous black nation in the world.

“On the occasion of the 2013 International Youth Day, I send my solidarity to all Akwa Ibom youths. I enjoin you to imbibe the virtues of patriotism and selfless service to Akwa Ibom and Nigeria as a whole and co-operate with government and key stakeholders in youth development for advancement of the cause of youths”, the statement reads in part.

The Ini born activist also charged youths of the state to eschew violence and other social vices that are detrimental to the progress of the state, saying as future leaders youths have key roles to play in nation building and integration.
August 12 is always set aside by United Nations as International Youth Day to draw government’s attention to youth issues worldwide. This year’s theme is “Youth Migration, Moving Development Forward”.
