The return of Udom Emmanuel as Governor in 2019 has been described as the best option for the people of Itu.

This was the position of the council chairman, Barrister Etetim Onuk, during the inauguration of Ward Executives of a frontline political group, Coalition of Uyo Senatorial District Youth (CUSDY) held at the council secretariat, Wednesday.

Onuk, noted that the Governor has performed exceptionally in the areas of: human capital development; industrialization; education; agriculture; health as well as prompt payment of salaries and retirement benefits of public servants in the state.

He opined that Itu people have assessed the performance of the Governor in the past three years and are left with no option than to galvanize support for his reelection in 2019. He charged the group to work audaciously at the grassroots level to sensitize the people on the achievements of the Udom administration.

Onuk, also reiterated the desire of Itu people to support the reelection of Obong Bassey Albert, as Senator representing Uyo Senatorial District in 2019, and hailed the Senator for his superlative performance in the red chamber and empowerment of his constituents.

Earlier, the National Chairman of the group, Nse Joshua charged the newly sworn in executives to mobilize people in their respective wards and villages who have not registered in the continuous voter registration to do so before close of the exercise on August 17.

Presenting the ward executives, Secretary of the coalition, Moses Essien charged them to be worthy ambassadors and at every opportunity outline the scorecard of Governor Emmanuel and Senator Albert to people in their respective communities.

On his part, a former council chairman, Dr Nsima Edet praised the leadership strides of the Governor as well as the representation of Senator Albert in the 8th Senate, hinting that the reelection of the duo is a simple task, given their value in the political and social space of the state.

Corroborating this, a former member of the state house of assembly, Barr. Kennedy Ekong, said the support of Itu people for the duo is unalloyed. He tasked the newly sworn in executives not to indulge in any form of campaign of calumny.
