Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East, Bassey Albert Akpan over the weekend said he knows his political opponents and those masquerading as friends who are plotting his fall. But was quick to add that even if he has forgiven them that he cannot forget their plots to bring him down.

Bassey Albert popularly known as OBA stated this when he was received by his supporters in Shelter Afrique in Uyo after the Supreme Court affirmed him victorious over Bassey Etim last week.

OBA who was received by Uyo Senatorial District stakeholders led by PDP state Chairman Obong Paul Ekpo, Senators Effiong Bob and Anietie Okon.

Others who also received OBA were, Chairmen of Local Government Areas, Councillors across the senatorial District amongst many others.

Speaking at the event, Obong Paul Ekpo praised the PDP legal team for putting up a strong legal action at the courts and reminded the people that the Party is proud of OBA and his representation at the red Chambers.

Paul Ekpo added that Bassey Etim’s court case was a needless distraction and further appreciated all supporters of the PDP to remain faithful with the Party as the party is big enough to accommodate and appreciate everyone at the appropriate time.

He described OBA’s victory as a sweet one and expressed the optimism that with the court case being over, the Senator will have more time to continue pouring out more dividends of democracy to the people of the Senatorial District.

Senator Effiong Bob who spoke congratulated OBA for what he described as a deserved victory. He warned political detractors to desist from creating confusion in the politics of the senatorial District even as he described OBA as a covenant Child and the pride of Uyo Senatorial District.

The Pro Chancellor of the University of Benin commended the legal fireworks of the legal team the PDP and Bob consulted and submitted that indeed the God of justice was with the Uyo Senator.

Senator Anietie Okon added his voice to the victory of OBA. He said, Uyo Senatorial District could not have been taken for a ride. He maintained that it is fraudulent for someone who never took part in a nomination process to turn around and seek to get to the senate through the backdoor noting that the courts gave the best judgement that will silence noise makers for the better part if the political sojourn.

He called on politicians from the senatorial District to bury their sword and join hands with Senator Albert so that together the senatorial District can benefit effectively.

The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Mr. Imoh Okon who went spiritual said, no man can ascribe the glory of OBA’s victory to himself. He said, it was the working of God. And maintained that God made it possible for the court to see the truth in the nomination process that threw up OBA and delivered a thorough bred and painstaking judgement that put paid to all the blackmails that the opposition mounted on the distinguished Senator.

Prince Enobong Uwah on his own described the victory of OBA at the court to sign of things to come saying that whom God has blessed cannot be cursed by anyone.

The Chairman of UCCDA speaking further said that the God of justice was on hand to deliver justice to the hood people of Uyo Senatorial District.

Enobong Uwah said, enemies of progress wanted to thwart the effective representation Uyo Senatorial District is enjoying halfway but the good Lord of justice says no, let my people of Uyo continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy currently delivered by OBA.

High point if the event was when OBA addressed the women in their numbers who all chorused that the distinguished Senator deserves a second term in the red chambers of the National Assembly.

OBA said, my dear constituent, let me appreciate God who has made it possible for the court case to turn out victorious for us. I thank our Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for all his contributions and advice. He is a leader, he is a man of God and he is a Governor for all. Let me tell you all here that our Governor Udom Emmanuel shall return to the Hilltop mansion for a second term.

We shall all support, encourage and work practically to ensure that Udom Emmanuel returns to the Hilltop mansion for a second term so that in 2023, Uyo senatorial District will produce a Governor. We cannot entrust the destiny of Uyo Senatorial District to anyone from APC because such person will want to do eight years and will deny us the opportunity of taking our turn in 2023. So please, let us join hands to ensure that Governor Emmanuel wins a second term in office.

Continuing OBA said, let me thank all of you here for the prayers, the encouragement and words if advice that you all contributed while the case lingered in court. I want to assure you all that henceforth, I will be doing empowerment every month. I will empower people by end of July, I will empower people by end of August, by end of September and throughout. So keep supporting OBA, Udom and PDP and I can assure you that you all standing here shall not regret.

For all those fighting me and trying to bring me down, yet they pretend to love me, I want to tell you that I know all of them. I laugh with them yet I know what they are planning against me. I don’t lose sleep. I am alert and I will continue to serve you all effectively.

Now, since you all have combined your voices and tell me to return to the Senate, I want to assure you that I shall seek your core mandate again and when I win again as I have always win, I shall not disappoint you. OBA enthused.
