Nsit Atai: Kinsmen finally break silent, condemn attack on Assembly Aspirant

Nsit Atai: Kinsmen finally break silent, condemn attack on Assembly Aspirant

Weeks after, the people of Ikot Abasi Nsit Village in Nsit Atai Local Government Area have finally broke silent over an alleged sponsored attacked on their son, Dr. Nse-Abasi Udoeyo, saying such act portend grave danger to the sustenance of democracy and violation of fundamental human right.

It could be recall that Dr. Udoeyo, a frontline House of Assembly Aspirant and serving Council Secretary of Nsit Atai and his supporters were aggressively attacked on Saturday, 14th July, 2018 while on a consultation visit to Village heads of Ibedu Group of Villages.

The alleged sponsored attacked which occurred at Ibedu Atai village led to dead of 2 suspected cultists, burnt of 3 cars and several people injured.

The people of Ikot Abasi Nsit while condemning in totality the deadly attacked on their son by the hoodlums, expressed displeasure  over the occurrence, speace and unity of the people.

They made their position known publicly while briefing some Journalists last Friday immediately after a meeting held at the Palace of the Village Head, Eteidung Edimoh Udoeyo.

While speaking, the village head Chief Udoeyo viewed the deadly attacked launched against their son as  an abuse of the fundamental human right and Nigeria’s constitution, which according to him; “Dr. Nse-Abasi Udoeyo has the right to aspire and contest for any elective offices in country being a patriotic citizen of the Nsit Atai, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria”.

Earlier, a youth of the Community, Comrade Samuel Jacob Akpan who expressed dissatisfaction over the recent occurrence, said he was shocked over the said incident, wondering why such attack could be sponsored against their son whom according to him ‘only went to consult his people of intention to aspire for the Assembly seat of the Constituency’.

“The House of Assembly seat is zoned to Ibedu in 2019. Nse-Abasi Udoeyo as a true son of Ibedu extraction has every right to contest for the position. Why was he attacked? Who sponsored the attack on him? We as the youths of the village are not happy over what happened and we don’t want such to ever repeat itself against. Whoever sponsored such deadly attack on our son and brother should reverse his or her steps or else we would revolt whenever such incident re-occur to any of our sons or daughters. Nobody should dare take us for granted simply because we love and want peace.”

Also Speaking on behalf of the youth, Akparawa Noah Uko said “Elections will come and go, but Nsit Atai will still remain. Let us not do something that will really bring down this Local Government.”

He appealed to Nsit Atai people to remain calm and not to relent on their effort for Nse-Abasi Udoeyo as he is out to take Nsit Atai to a greater height.
