Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio gets new exco

The Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio (MMI) last Tuesday, inaugurated her 10th International Executive Council members with Akparawa (Obong) Patrick Udofia as president.

Other new members inaugurated were: Akparawa Udo Festus - vice president 1, Akparawa James Edet - vice president 11, Akparawa Fiokidaha Umoh - secretary general, Akparawa Anthony Etim - deputy secretary general and Akparawa Peter Morgan.

Also sworn in were: Akparawa Emmanuel Akang - financial secretary, Akparawa Ekereke Ekereke - auditor, Akparawa Anthony Effiong - public relations officer, Akparawa Clement Akpan - welfare officer, Akparawa (Barr) Godwin Edet - legal adviser, Akparawa-anwan Esther Uko - woman leader and Akparawa Bassey Bassey as provost.

The inauguration ceremony which took place at the Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio International Headquarters, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, attracted members of the socio-cultural organization within and outside the State, other socio-cultural organizations in the State, government functionaries as well as members of the public.


In his inaugural address, the new president, Akparawa Patrick Udofia promised to place Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio on the global arena and make it relevant to contemporary Akwa Ibom and Nigeria polity, while attracting benefits to members.

He said his administration will redirect the welfare package towards the capacity building of members, complete ongoing projects at the International Secretariat, further develop infrastructure at Mboho Unity Schools and initiate policies and programmes to place the Schools on competitive advantage as a 21st century educational institution.

The International President also promised to actualize the establishment of Mboho Micro Finance Bank and develop/strengthen other investments of the organization for a strong economic base as well as undertake other projects and programmes that will take Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio to the next level as a first class socio-cultural organization.

Mkparawa Patrick Udofia assured the government of Akwa Ibom State that Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio will cooperate with the present administration through dialogue and useful inputs to ensure that Akwa Ibom State is developed and dividends of good governance and inclusiveness in matters of State and National interest.

According to the the president, “We will speak out against all forms of oppressions, marginalization and deprivation. We will commend where commendable and advise where necessary. May I therefore commend His Excellency, Akparawa Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, our member for his superlative performance in the past three years of his administration.”

While using the opportunity to commend the State Governor, Akparawa Udom Emmanuel, the MMI president noted that the policies and programmes put in place by the Governor will further open up the State and sustain her development for the benefit of the people.

In their separate goodwill massages, Governor Udom Emmanuel, congratulated the new exco. The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen charged them to work in support of the present administration to ensure government succeed even as he promised that government will support the new exco to achieve its set goals.

The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Akparawa Onofiok Luke also congratulated the Akparawa Patrick Udofia led new exco for their emergence as the 10th International Executive Council, and called on members to cooperate with the new exco to succeed. Goodwill massages also came from the repsentatives of traditional rulers, Oro Union, Esu Nlap Oro, Afigh Iwaad Ekid, Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, among other socio-cultural organizations in the State.
