Count down to the 30th Anniversary celebration of the Akwa Ibom State Newspaper Corporation (The Pioneer Newspaper), the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists Akwa Ibom State Council, Elder Patrick Albert has revealed that at its thirty years of existence in the state, the Pioneer Newspaper has consistently strived to promote leadership and service.
He disclosed this while interacting with newsmen in his office today in Uyo.
He further said stated establishing the Pioneer Newspaper was one of the key projects achieved by the pioneer administration of Governor Tunde Ogbeha after the state creation in 1987; and since its establishment, the newspaper has never been off circulation till date. A development he said has triggered the 30th anniversary celebration of the tabloid.
Elder Albert pointed out that the newspaper house has exhibited leadership prowess in all ramifications as evidenced in the ingenuity of the staff and maintenance of ethical compliance.
He informed that the several activities lined up to mark the 30th anniversary celebration of the pioneer newspaper include: a Thanksgiving giving service on Sunday 8th April, 2018 at the Qua Iboe Church, 114 Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo, street walk, novelty football match, visit to orphanage centres in the state as well as public lectures/Awards.
The State Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is the Special Guest of honor while the Pioneer military Governor & progenitor of the Pioneer Newspaper, Senator Tunde Ogbeha is the Guest of honour and Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Mr. Enefiok Essien is the chairman on the occasion.
The 30th anniversary celebration of the pioneer newspaper is billed to take place on Wednesday, 11th April 2018 at Emerald event center by 1pm.
