A former 2015 Governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ndanti Ekuh has described the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Ndueso Ekwere as a liar, saying that the Can leader lacks the attribute of a core Christian, despite his position as the Chairman of Christian body in the state.

Ekuh stated this while reacting to the recent media report credited to the CAN chairman alleging that he (Rev. Ndueso Ekwere) met an empty treasury when he took over office from the previous Chairman of CAN in the state and that the sum of N100 million donated to the body by the then Governor Akpabio is missing.

Speaking to journalists in a press briefing, Ekuh said Rev. Ekwere can not deny knowledge of what transpired in the immediate past administration of CAN considering the fact that he was a member of the Executive of the body serving as Financial Secretary.

Ekuh who is also the publisher of Daily Detail Newspaper said that findings by him revealed that Ekwere was given a handing over note in which details of how the said money was used as well as the remainder were clearly stated.

According to him, what delayed the building of the proposed Secretariat as revealed by his investigation include non payment of compensation to host community and delay in relocation of the former occupant of the land by the state government.

"Rev. Ekwere is a blatant liar and a disgrace to Christianity, particularly, Qua Iboe Church where he is serving as a minister. How can he claim that as a former Financial Secretary of CAN he was in the State, he doesn't know what transpired in the previous administration of the body? I have made personal findings and discovered that upon his assumption of office, he (Ekwere) was given a handing over note in which a breakdown of all administrative decision and actions were clearly stated.

If he wants to be more catholic than the Pope, then let him make the handing over note he collected public. I learnt from good authority that Ekwere knows the whereabouts of the N100 million naira but he is only trying to raise unnecessary alarm.

He is claiming that no structure was raised on the site meant for the building of CAN secretariat whereas he knows so well that payment of compensation to the host community and relocation of the former occupants of the land as suggested by the then Surveyor General of the state were responsible for the delay. As a pastor he is, he lied that the N100 million is missing where as he knows that a company was contacted and mobilized to start building of the Secretariat but was hindered by issue of compensation and relocation of the former occupants of the land.

He lied that he met empty treasury where as he inherited over N6 million not even to talk of financial records in his procession. I think the public should ask him what is his motive behind his lies and why he is making such false allegations now?" Ekuh said.

Further he explained thus, "For the former occupants of the land, it was not as if they had taken possession of their plots yet, only that they were allocated but before they could get in, CAN was given the land, so, the ministry had to relocate them to another land before CAN could take the land.

Also, the land owners, particularly the youth of the host community needed some money because they felt that government took the land that was meant for their school leaving them with nothing. So that made them to remove the beckon stones every time the ministry went there to survey the land."

While regretting that a Pastor of Qua Iboe Church in the person of Rev. Ekwere could allow himself to be used by the devil, Ekuh said he will exposed the CAN chairman's shabby deal on the recent N50 million given to CAN by Governor Udom Emmanuel of which he allegedly lobied different block leaders of CAN and gave out only N4 million each to the five blocks should he make false allegation next time.

Ekuh who said he was so much interested in the activities of CAN said he has noticed that Rev. Ekwere is trying to raise false alarm against former Governor Akpabio with the aim of gaining more favour from Governor Udom Emmanuel.

He advised the CAN chairman to desist from projecting Christians, particularly, ministers of God badly, saying that his emergence as the CAN chairman is the worst thing that has happened to the body.
