My Administration is more business driven than Political – Uyo Council Boss

In line with his determination to ensure speedy and even development of Uyo Local Government Area, the Chairman, Elder Imo Okon has stated that his administration will be more business driven than political.

Elder Imo Okon made this known yesterday at a public presentation of power of attorney to four members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Akwa Ibom State branch, who have completed payment for their plots of land at the association’s estate.

He commended NMA for choosing to develop an estate in one of the rural areas in the State Capital – Uyo, adding that besides contributing to the overall development of the area, it will also help to generate revenue for the local government council.

The Chairman who called on other professional bodies to emulate NMA, said the council will present them with Customary Right of Occupancy and urged them to engage the locals in the jobs where necessary.


Addressing members of the association, the Chairman of NMA, Dr. Aniekeme Uwah said the project is part of the, “turning point 2016” agenda which were encapsulated in the three ‘Es,’ adding that the Estate project falls under the second ‘E;’ to enhance the welfare of members.

He said the association was partnering with an estate developer – Value Trus Investment and Property Development Co. Ltd – to develop an estate with smart homes for doctors, stressing that members were paying small amounts for a period of eight months.

Dr. Aniekeme Uwah expressed delight that the scheme which started on the 18th of November 2017, has produced its first set of beneficiaries who were being presented with the Power of attorney.
While commending members for taking advantage of the opportunity, he reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the members and to his three point agenda.

Earlier in his speech, the representative of Value Trus, Mr. David Umanah said company has handled many estate development jobs in the past and promised that the project was already a success.

He said the estate which will be a smart city, is a mega city called Value Trus Mega City with about 250 residential plots including the Doctor’s Court.

Among those presented with the power of attorney was Prof. Austin Umoh, former NMA Chairman, Akwa Ibom chapter.
