RCC receives nod for keying into the uncommon transformation agenda of AKSG

The determination, initiative and vision of a renowned Construction giant, Reynold Construction Company (RCC) to key into Governor Godswill Akpabio’s transformation agenda has received the commendation of the State Government.

The State Governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio made the commendation while commissioning an ICT training and Skill acquisition center constructed by RCC at Ikot Akpaden Health center in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

The Governor who was represented by the Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Science and Technology, Deacon Iboro Ekanem noted that the collaboration between Government and corporate bodies in building capacity and encouraging self-actualization among the people is one of the key vital corporate Social responsibilities  of organization towards harmonizing relations between the companies and their host Communities.


Chief Akpabio lauded RCC for recognizing the important role of ICT in today’s global economy and sustainable economic development in areas of job creation, poverty eradication, wealth creation, eradication of youth restiveness and crime and called on other Companies operating in the State to take a cue from RCC.

The State Chief Executive urged Reynolds Construction Company to upgrade and introduce additional skill training programme to broaden the knowledge of participants as an added advantage as well as empower the beneficiaries with start off capital to enable them become self-reliant at the end of the training.
Governor Akpabio charged the benefiting Community and beneficiaries to guard against vandalization of the project.

Earlier, the member representing Mkpat Enin, Eastern Obolo and Ikot AbasiFederal Constituency at the National Assembly, Dr. Akpan Umoh said the provision of ICT training facility by RCC apart  from exposing the children of the Federal  Constituency to ICT will enable them compete favourably with their counterparts around the world.

Dr. Umoh who noted that ICT was a key to vast opportunities, said anybody that is not ICT compliant can be termed semi-literate.

The National Assembly member, stressed that corporate responsibility should not be transient but should stand the test of time and praised RCC for providing a sustainable empowerment and appealed to RCC to power the generating set, and also provide laptops to the trainees after the programme.
The representative of the Hon. Commissioner of Education Mr.Chrisantus Asuka noted that the ICT training programme will open up children from the community to be able to write 2015 JAMB which according to him will be online.

Mr. Asuka urged RCC to employ personnel who will teach the children on the usage of the facility.

The Chairman on the occasion, the paramount Rulers of Mkpat Enin and Ikot Abasi all lauded RCC for citing the project in the area saying the project apart from making the children ICT compliant will also create employment and attract development to the area.

The project Manager Reynolds Construction Company Engr. Gotfrid Offir maintained that the construction of the ICT center was part of their corporate responsibility.

Engr. Offir said the center is equipped with laptops computer, a laser jet printer, a giant modem and dish connected wirelessly and a stand by noiseless generating set to power the center. 

He expressed optimism that with the provision of the facility, children from the area would take become ICT compliant and employers of labour.
