The Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Obong Paul Ekpo has enjoined party faithful in the state to contribute their resources towards the building of a befitting state secretariat for the party in Uyo.
To this end, any PDP member who fails to identify with the building project should not consider himself as a stakeholder in the party, the PDP Chairman has warned.

He stated this yesterday at the permanent site of the PDP office in Atan Offot,Uyo during an inspection and official handing over ceremony of the site to the recently inaugurated building project committee headed by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem.
Obong Ekpo advised defiant party members that have recently been using the cloak of party elders to sponsor media messages against the decisions of the party, that a time has come for them to prove their status in the party by supporting the project.
“Let them come and prove their position as stakeholders by bringing their resources to support the secretariat project, instead of wasting it to attack the decisions of the State leadership of the Party,” Ekpo said.
Performing the exercise, Obong Paul Ekpo explained that the handing over of the plot of land which was secured by the previous leadership of the party, was to pave way for the commencement of construction work on the site which has a duration period of 12 months.
Accompanied by members of the State executive committee of the Party including chapter executives, some commissioners and members of the building committee as well as finance committee of the party, the State party chairman, charged the project committee members to hit the ground running in order to meet the dateline.
Earlier, the party boss had paid a courtesy call on the village head of Attan offot, Eteidung Okon D. Udo, and members of his village council where he intimated the village council on the purpose of his visit to the community.
He appreciated the people of Atan Offot for their unflinching support to the present administration in the state, assuring that the presence of the party secretariat in their domain will bring development to the community.
Welcoming the party chairman and his entourage to the village, Etteidung Udo expressed delight at the visit and thanked the PDP for deeming it fit to site it’s state secreteriat in his domain and assured that his community will always be supportive of the PDP at all times.
He however appealed for the construction of roads in the area and as well as a befitting market for the community.
Also speaking, an indigene of the area and Commissioner for Envioronment, Prince Enobong Uwah, said the people of Atan Offot are a peace loving people and will always remain loyal to the PDP led government.
Taking over the project site, Chairman of the Building Committee, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, assured of the preparedness of his committee to work assiduously to ensure timely completion of the project before the end of this year.
Present at the project site also included, Mr. Don Etim, Engr. Etido Inyang, Obong Eno Akpan, Mr. Godwin Afangideh among others.
