Church celebrates 20th anniversary

Faithful of Grace and Power Gospel mission Inc. last Sunday converged on the national headquarters, Nung Ukot Itam, Uyo, Akwa ibom state to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

The epoch making event which started with the divine Sunday service also featured induction, promotion and ordination of some ministers.

Those inducted were Rev (Dr) Victor Robert, Rev Efiong Udo, Rev Alexander Umoh, Rev Monday N Akpan, Rev (Mrs) Bessie A Udoh, Rev (Mrs) Aniefiok U. E. Akpan and Rev (Mrs) Arit Efiong Udo. And those promoted to senior pastors included Snr. Pst.Charles Edet, Snr. Pst.Asuquo Effiong Udoh, snr evang Mary Umoette and snr Evang Ekaette Joseph Tom, while Pst Joseph T Udoh, Evang Roseline K. Udoeyop, pst Oscar Orok Ekpo, Evang Rose Akan Thomas and pst Patrick Edet Jackson were newly ordained ministers.

The event attracted guests from all walks of life, spanning from politics to religion and what have you. Among them were husband to senior special adviser to governor Udom Emmanuel on education monitoring, Hon Etiebet and founder and general overseer of Good land church, Rev (Dr) Xavier John, who dedicated the book written by one of the inductees, Dr Victor Robert.



John who has been a friend of the national chairman for years now, advised the inductees to keep to the principles of the Bible and urged all present, irrespective of their faith to acquire at least a copy of the just launched book for keep.

The cleric who condemned the way some men of God conduct themselves, also advised the newly ordained ministers to be committed.

The induction of the eight senior ministers into the council of reverend ministers was the first after the inductees had fulfilled all the requirements of the office, sat and passed the examination, while the ordination was third.

In these years, the church has eleven branches, ten has permanent land, five permanent building, one has completed block work preparing for roofing while four are have temporary structures with only one branch left to acquire a land. In the area of man power and training, the church has established a Bible institute called Grace and Power bible institute to train ministers. So far, the church is blessed with thirty five ministers with one retiree.

Welcoming guests to the event, the national chairman, Most Rev Joseph o Ekpo said currently the church is embarking on the building of multipurpose hall that will serve as class room block and other purposes. Apart from the above the church also has a vision to take the gospel to all nukes and crannies within Nigeria and without, but the greatest constraint is finances.

To this end, the national chairman solicited financial support from spirited individuals to enable them realize the vision and also complete the building project.

The national chairman, in his homily, admonished christians to speak with one voice,adding that if Christians can only speak with voice most of the problems they face would be curbed.


To those who were either inducted, promoted or ordained, “be committed”, he charged.

The national chairman and wife were joined by the clergy, laity and selected guests to cut the anniversary cake, while visitors to each of the affected ministers were entertained at individual tents erected by them.
