Senate 2019: Ekid Nation rejects Ekpenyong Ntekim
The people of Ekid nation say the region will not support the senate ambition of former commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state Barr. Ekpenyong Ntekim because of what they described as Ntekim’s hatred for the Ekid people.
Two former Council Chairmen each from Eket and Esit Eket local government Areas told THE INK reporter that on countless occasions, Mr. Ntekim had slapped and plotted against the Ekid people.
They maintained in separate interactions that Ntekim as a commissioner for Justice under former Governor Godswill Akpabio had almost cede reasonable parts of land belonging to Ekid nation to her neighbors.
The anger of the people is that despite overwhelming traditional and modern historical evidences that the land Ekpenyong wanted to cede to neighboring region belonged to Eket, the ex commissioner refused to think right.
Another group of people who said Ntekim will not be supported in Ekid are the political class across all divides.
They maintained that Ekpenyong Ntekim even though is being backed by Okpolupm Etteh shall not win in Eket federal constituency.
Ekid politicians maintained that it is not in the interest of Ekid nation and the federal constituency that Ntekim goes to the senate.
They described the Okobo lawyer as an inconsistent politician who believes in make or break politics.
An ex legislator in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly said to THE INK reporter that Ekpenyong Ntekim may pull all the stunts he seeks to pull but that he won’t get the support that could get him the senate ticket.
Our source said, Ntekim, I believe never knew he was going to enlist Ekid support for election or anything and hence why he was always victimizing us.
Today, he seeks our support for his senate ambition. We in Ekid nation will not be vindictive, but we shall pull together our diversity and ensure that Ntekim is stopped.
Our source continued further that Ekpenyong Ntekim’s clannishness will not augur well for the generality of the senatorial district as Ntekim is not a team prayer and also not a faithful and loyal party man.
The senatorial aspirant could not be reached for his reactions to the allegations of hatred to Ekid people and description of him as being clannish and more. But those who have stoutly promoted his ambition are of the opinion that Ntekim is the best man for the job.
They maintained while speaking to our reporter last week in Ewet Housing that Barr Ekpenyong Ntekim is a seasoned legal expert that has what it takes to represent the senatorial District come 2019.
But whether Ntekim will sail through the primaries of the PDP and eventually win during the general election remains an acid test that is running in the test tube.
Already, Ntekim’s kinsmen have rumored that the legal man is surrounding himself with persons who have no electoral value and whose contributions to political victory is often too minimal.
THE INK understands that Ntekim appears to be one of the most talked about aspirant for Eket senate seat 2019 at the moment but comes far behind in the perking order of likely candidates to win.
It was not clear how the ex Governorship aspirant intends to wriggle his way out, but the bottom line is that his chances of victory hangs.
