“Uruan Local Government is for PDP” – Paramount Ruler

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Rt. Hon Victor Antai has reiterated Governor Udom Emmanuel readiness to establish farm settlements and an industrial estate in every local government area of the state.

He made this known recently in Uruan Local Government Area during the Dakada sensitisation tour of local government areas.

In his words; “Governor Udom Emmanuel is so passionate about industrialisation, this is why he wants to build farm settlements in every local government and an industrial estate for easy processing of raw materials, the Governor wants to turn Akwa Ibom from civil service state to industrialised state”.
Speaking further, the commissioner said the Governor is determine to pay every civil servants in the state their salaries and other entitlement as at when due. He noted that Dakada initiative of the Governor is aim at changing the thinking philosophy of the citizens and igniting the spirit of greatness and solicited for their support for the Governor.

Continuing, noted that so far the state government has send some youth for training in power, computer training and other fields which will help them to be self independent and employers of labour when they return.
He also assures them of the Governor’s determination to complete all projects that the previous administration couldn’t complete.

In his remarks, the Clan Head of Central Uruan His Highness Edidemeyenowo Nicholas Eyo Ukpong thanked the Hon Commissioner for fast-tracking the appointment of members of Uruan Traditional Rulers Council by the Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel. He also thanked the Governor for the timely payment of their monthly stipend.

The Clan Head, who was representing the Paramount Ruler of Uruan, HRH Edidem Atakpo, reaffirmed the position of Uruan Local Government in supporting PDP in the state. In his words; “let me state here clearly, Uruan is not for APC, we are PDP local government and we will remind so”. He therefore assures the Governor of the support of his people throughout his administration.

He used the opportunity to highlight some of the problems facing the TRC to include; means of transportation for members of the council, lack of computer systems and printer for typing and producing minutes of council meetings.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Transition Chairman of the Council, Rt. Hon Anthony Akan, thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for bringing the message of “Dakkada” to Uruan and promise to spread the message across the local government.

Present during the sensitisation tour were the Commissioner for Transport, Prince Godwin Ntukudeh, Member Representing Uruan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon Aniekan Bassey, Village Heads, Clan Heads, political stakeholders, elders of Uruan, women groups and youths.
