Akwa United set for thanksgiving service, Sunday

All is now set for the thanksgiving service of Akwa United Football Club after winning the 2015 Federation Cup. 
 
Addressing members of Sports writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Wednesday, the Chairman of Akwa United Board, Akparawa Nse Ubeh said the thanksgiving will take place on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, No. 63 Obio Imo Street, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
 
He said the service is to thank God for making the team comes out victorious in the Federation Cup competition. Ubeh used the opportunity to invites all Akwa United supporters as well as sports lovers in the State to turn-up for the thanksgiving service.
 
Meanwhile the chairman has appreciated everybody who had contributed in one way or the other to the team during the last football season. He said he was on a mission to make history in the club. “I want to say a little thank you to everybody for the support throughout the season. I had vowed that it will not be in my time that Akwa United will go on relegation. I came to make history in Akwa United.” 
 
He thanked the State Governor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for standing by the team and for releasing funds for a smooth running of the team as well as supporting the team in many ways. He however used the opportunity to thank all the sports stakeholders for their support and contribution. 
 
Ubeh also appreciated the support he enjoyed from the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Monday Uko , the fans and other football lovers who always turned-up en-mass to the stadium to cheer the team to victory especially during home matches.
 
The Akwa United chairman promised to reinforce the team for stronger challenges ahead, saying that the team will be strong enough to face any opposition in the Confederation Cup even as he vowed to bring the cup back to Akwa Ibom State at the end of the competition. According to Nse Ubeh, “We are not just going to play the Confederation Cup, the way we have taken Akwa Ibom to Nigeria by winning the Federation Cup, we will take Akwa Ibom to Africa by making sure that we bring the cup back to Akwa Ibom State.” He noted. He thanked members of Sports writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Akwa Ibom State for giving Akwa United Football Club effective publicity during the last football season.
