Shocking Revelation! *Udom Emmanuel Doesn’t Receive His Salary *

*As lawmaker sheds light on Governor’s family compound fuss

It has been revealed that Mr Udom Emmanuel, is doing charity work as governor of the oil rich Akwa Ibom State.

The lawmaker representing Onna State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon (Otuekong) Nse Essien, made the shocking revelation, over the weekend, while interacting with a cross-section of his supporters and admirers in Ewet Housing, in Uyo, the State capital.

The lawmaker who is the Deputy Chief Whip in the current sixth Assembly, stated unequivocally that, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has been forfeiting his salary right from the time he served as the Secretary to the State Government till date.
Indomitable, as he is fondly called, observed that the State Governor, Mr Emmanuel, was a “made man” before voluntarily resigning at Zenith Bank Plc, in a honest bid to contribute his quota to the development of Akwa Ibom State.

To support his assertion, the “representative of Governor Emmanuel in the sixth Assembly”, who maintained the Governor was a wealthy man before coming into politics, chronicled some previous offices held by Mr Udom Emmanuel before he became the State Governor to include: Chief Financial Officer with Zenith Bank Plc, Group Head, Income Optimisation, Financial Control & Strategic Planning Department at Zenith Bank Plc, Head, Telecommunications Sector, Income Optimisation and Financial & Strategic Planning Group of Zenith Bank Plc, Executive Director, Member of Executive Committee and Member of Board, Risk Management Committee of Zenith Bank Plc.

Hon Essien, reasoned that as a Chartered Accountant who was an Audit Manager at Price Waterhouse Coopers and the pioneer Manager of Diamond Bank Plc, Lagos Central branch, no right thinking person would say such a man is poor, let alone using State funds to renovate his family house.

The Deputy Chief Whip further explained that Governor Emmanuel left a very rewarding and enviable banking career to become the State Governor through the mandate given to him by 996, 071 sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom who voted for him.

Otuekong Nse Essien who observed that the commitment of the governor to create alternative source of revenue generation for the state is commendable especially at a time the country is facing economic recession, specifically lauded the vision of Governor Emmanuel, to make Akwa Ibom an industrial hub.

The Assemblyman also called on his constituents and the people of the State to key into the vision of the governor stating that at this critical time of the state’s economy, the government needs the support of every stakeholder to move the state forward.

While commending the Udom Emmanuel’s administration for
prompt payment of workers salaries, the Onna lawmaker urged workers in the state to be creative by devising other sources of income which would serve as a support base to their salaries.

Hon. Essien who is the Chairman House Committee on Investment, Commerce and Industry, assured his constituents in particular and entire Akwa Ibom people that the State House of Assembly headed by the Rt Hon Aniekan Uko, is committed to passing legislations that would better the welfare of entire Akwa Ibomites.
