Etinan Federal Constituency 2015: Nsit Ibom will produce next representative – Hon. David Etuk

Political analysis may have foreclosed the  possibility of Etinan and Nsit Ubium local government areas winning the Etinan Federal Constituency nomination ahead of the 2015 general election as the arrow of representation in the Federal Constituency points at Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, given the political zoning practices that is prevalent in constituency over the years.

The Special Assistant to Governor Godswill Akpabio on Projects, Mr David Etuk in an interactive session with newsmen during the yuletide cerebration which took place in his country home in Ikot Idem, Nsit Ibom  local government area, disclosed that PDP in Etinan Federal Constituency understands the language of zoning within the three local government areas that make up the constituency.

Teaching your children moral values 2

Teaching your children moral values 2

In our previous edition, we considered five possible  ways mothers can teach their children good morals, in this edition we will continue where we stopped.

6. Hold your children accountable for their mistakes: It is possible for your children to get themselves in to trouble either while playing in school or with their peer group. They may get injured while playing, perform poorly in their academics or disobey school rules and receive a detention. You may be tempted to rush in and immediately try to “make things better” for them by going to the principal and ask him to take away the detention or by paying for d broken window yourself, but don’t. If you rescue or defend your children every time the make avoidable mistakes, they will be accustomed to it, they won’t take responsibility for their actions. They need to know that bad choices result in unpleasant consequences. A child that you will always defend will not feel remorseful when he is at fault. He will not have respect for other people’s things neither will he value them.

Participatory budget appropriation; Onofiok Luke’s example BY JOSEPH OKON

Participatory budget appropriation; Onofiok Luke’s example

It is universally true that some people will always want to contribute their best, either ideas or in kind, to the development of their societies.

Barr. Onofiok Luke is one of those that like contributing his quota, in whatever way positive, to his society. Perhaps, this kind of notion may have informed the elaborate budget briefings organized by him in his capacity as the member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. It is in recognition of the tenets of democracy that this lawmaker who doubles as the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation consistently, since 2012, made the State budget a peoples centered budget and allow all interested parties, groups, organizations civil society groups associations, and others concerned about development of the State to participate and contribute their ideas and opinions on what the State budget should focus on.

Because you are one of us: Tribute to Gov. Akpabio at 51 by Christy Edwards Usen-AkpanBecause you are one of us: Tribute to Gov. Akpabio at 51 by Christy Edwards Usen-Akpan

I write today as a product  of history and a former leader of Nigerian students to pay tribute to a man who rose from a fairly modest background to champion an inspiring legacy for Akwa Ibom State and for my generation. Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON, has become an icon of this generation, a champion of uncommon transformation, a true leader and a dynamic manager of people, resources and processes. Nigerian students and former students’ leaders cannot but reckon with you; we are proud that you are one of us, being a former students’ leader yourself.

Your Excellency, your administration has gone on record as the most student-friendly administration Akwa Ibom State has ever had. This administration’s student-friendly  policy interventions include, but are not limited to, the free, compulsory and qualitative education scheme, overhaul of school infrastructure in hundreds of primary and secondary schools across the state, infrastructural rehabilitation and support grants to the University of Uyo and other tertiary institutions in the state, take-off and scaled-up funding for the Akwa Ibom State University and consistent bursary and scholarship opportunities for students of the state origin, including grants and laptops to Akwa Ibom State students at the Nigerian Law School.

Udom Emmanuel: A corporate administrator in cooperate governance

Udom Emmanuel: A corporate administrator in cooperate governance
History was again made in the life of governance in Akwa Ibom State sequel the inauguration of the present Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

Like the state governor who performed the inauguration declared, the experience the new Secretary to Government has gathered over the years having worked in the private sector, will bring the needed skill to his job as Secretary to the State Government.

When looking at the background of the new Scribe, one would be tempted to conclude that if given the enabling environment to exhibit his ingenuity and dexterity, Akwa Ibom state will soon stand out among her contemporaries like the Zenith Bank that is today standing as the biggest and strongest private financial institution, not just in Nigeria, but in Africa as a whole.

Desparate days in Nsit Atai- Chairman linked to Mbiam

Desparate days in Nsit Atai- Chairman linked to Mbiam

As the 2015 general election gathers the heat in Nsit Atai Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Mark Esset is alleged to have been administering Mbiam to his supporters to ensure their complete loyalty before giving them anything; a very reliable source from the local government who is a member of the local government executive council disclosed this to our reporter recently. The source who pleaded anonymity said “Mr. Mark Esset is doing this because of his House of Assembly ambition since he has learned from what happened to his predecessor, Hon. Ibanga Bassey Akpan who was deceived by the people to spend money without getting the House of Assembly ticket”.

The source also alleged that Hon. Esset has been using diabolic means to entice the people; maintaining that out of the 6 vehicles he had distributed to his supporters to mark his first one year in office, 3 have recently been involved in ghastly accident that claimed lives while one person sold out his own on realizing the diabolic manipulations surrounding those vehicles.

Okobo State Constituency: The achievements of Hon. Efefiong Antigha in the past two and half years
The birth of every child is an epiphany of hope wrapped in a canvass of diverse possibilities. As hard as the parents strive for an upward social mobility of a child, it takes the grace of God to twang the transcendental cord that excites a critical element in the child for self awakening.

Thus, in the opening chapter of “encyclopedia of outstanding legislators in Nigeria” is conspicuously written the name, Hon. Efefiong Etoh Antigha, a member representing Okobo State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, perhaps, the grace of God has been sufficient unto him to discover and make good use of God-given potentials in him. Consequently, while some of his contemporaries floundered at different stages, Hon. Efefiong Etoh Antigha flourished with a clear vision, passion, valor, candor and honor.
