RCCG issues business grants to members

BY ABASIFREKE OBOT

In a bid to add colossal value, growth and development to the businesses of its members and by extension, boost their standard of living,  the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG), Grace and Glory Maga Zone on Sunday empowered 17 of her members with huge finances to start up as well as run their businesses.

The special empowerment programme which took its first phase held at the church auditorium, 67 Wellington Bassey,  Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the host minister, Pastor Chris Eromosele, informed that the Church thought it apt to give out start-up capital to them in order to aid their businesses and bring their business ideas to fruition.

The cleric advised beneficiaries to use the capital judiciously and also ensure to use the capital to accomplish the purpose for which it has been given them.

He noted that the next phase of this special empowerment, by the grace of God, will be mapped out to accommodate over 30 beneficiaries and more in subsequent phases.

He prayed God’s blessings and divine multiplication upon their businesses.
Interacting with the INK reporter on what warranted the gesture,  the President of Redeemers’

Men Fellowship, Grace and Glory Maga Zone, Mr Idongesit Ikono said, “We looked at the fact that the church seem to have taken their eyes off the welfare of the members of the Church and concerntrated more on other issues, neglecting the welfare of members of the church. We felt that should not be the case.

“While we are building the cathedral, while we are buying the instruments and other things, we should not forget that they are needy in the church.”
On the selection process, Ikono stressed that the process was quite transparent.

He explained, “We liased with the Heads of the Department so choosen and they gave us the names. We did carried out a screening process. We interviewed them. We looked at their needs and we were able to come up with the names. So, it was a transparent process.”

Ikono urged other churches to emulate the gesture, advising that the needy should never be forgotten. He said while the members longed for spiritual growth, they, as well, crave for physical and material growth.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Enobong Sylvester thanked the church for the kind gesture and promised to make good use of the money.
