Chief Udoma Ubom reacts to widow’s allegation against the Police

With Reference to the publication of Tuesday 23rd April – Monday 29th April, 2019., Vol.4, No.105 by THE INK Newspaper Captioned “Police Brutality, How IGP Squad MAIMED, abuse Divorce in Akwa Ibom State” by one Mrs. Margaret Etim Udoh of St. Christopher Avenue, Nung Udoe, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State at about 10.00am on the night of Saturday 13th April, 2019 and Sunday Punch April 28, 2019 Vol. 23 No. 20,047 Caption, “I want IG to punish cops who humiliated me in my house -  A’Ibom divorcee brutalized by policemen”. 

I, Hon. Elder Udoma Ubom Akpan father of the Late Mr. Udoma Udoma Ubom of No. 5A, Akpasak Street, Afaha Nsit, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and a father of Late Mr. Udoma Udoma Ubom who was killed by known members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Cult group members led by Victor Moses Elijah and Aniekan Moses Etuk on the Eve of the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly Elections which was 8th March, 2019 at about 9:30 pm after returning from a friend’s house in his village. 

I accompanied the IRT Team from Abuja who came to arrest the key suspect that killed my son, late Mr. Udoma Udoma Ubom, Mr. Aniekan Moses Etuk, a staff of Estate and Works Department in College of Education, Afaha Nsit, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State at where he relocated to Mrs. Margaret Etim Udo’s house at St. Christopher Avenue, Nung Udoe, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. Before the Police Team arrived the place, there was a careful tracking and the coordinates located them to that address. 

Aniekan Moses was right inside the house on seeing the police Hilux the woman rushed and locked her gate and refused to open it again despite pleading by the Policemen. She later shouted “Armed robbers!, Armed robbers!!, Armed robbers!!!” At that point Police blew their alarm / siren to confirm to her that they were Policemen; she called the Police at the control room and the Police Patrol Team in-charge of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State arrived the address in response to her call and joined other Policemen who were on official duty to plead with her to open her gate for them continue their duty and that it is not armed robbers as she alleged but she bluntly refused to open the gate in the presence of the police that she called. 

We did not know that the woman was trying to pave way for Aniekan Moses to escape through her backdoor by jumping through her fence. After she succeeded in aiding Aniekan to escape, she finally opened the gate at about 1:30am on Saturday 13th April, 2019 from 10:30pm that we were there. They Policemen were very annoyed and decided to arrest her at that point, there was no harm done to her, no breaking of doors, roofs etc as she alleged. 

Aniekan Moses was the key suspect that killed my son, the woman who is her man friend aided him to escape. I am the father to the deceased late Mr. Udoma Udoma Ubom. This woman allegation is cooked, false, baseless and borne out of criminal sense. How can a woman who claimed to be a Pastor with Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries in Idoro Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State said in her first publication that the Policemen came to rape and put their hands in her private part. Can IRT Policemen Team came all the way from Abuja to rape an eighteen years old Divorcee? Again, in her second publication on Punch Newspaper dated April 28, 2019 she alleged that the police called her witch and other names. Her report / publications are conflicting, false, baseless and senseless. 

I am appealing to the IGP to call this woman to order and inform her to produce Mr. Aniekan Moses Etuk, her man friend in order to face the full wrath of the law for killing an innocent man on the road instead of deceiving the public with false allegations / publications. This murder case must get justice. 

She also alleged that Policemen dragged her out naked. How can a woman who stayed inside her house for about four hours could come out naked? This woman is a criminal. She was aware of her mission, that is why aided the murder suspect to escape. 

She must quickly apologize to Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the general public for telling lies and obstructing the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) from arresting her man friend, Mr. Aniekan Moses Etuk. 

I, Hon. Elder Udoma Ubom Akpan father of the deceased hereby warned the woman Mrs. Margaret Etim Udoh not interfere or obstruct the Police from investigating the murder case of my son late Mr. Udoma Udoma Ubom in which Aniekan Moses is one of the principal suspects. I urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to charge her for obstruction and hiding of the principal murder suspect, Mr. Aniekan Moses.

Furthermore, I also urged the Nigerian Bar Association (MBA), Human Right Commissions (HRC), Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and other civil right agencies to bring this 18 years old divorcee to order to serve as a deterrent to other people in Nigeria. 

I will not fold my hands and see how this woman bring shame to Akwa Ibom State, imagine how a woman accused the policemen who were on official duty of arresting a suspect for a case of murder have chances to put their hands into her private part as she alleged and published in the newspaper. This is ridiculous lies, baseless, senseless and borne out of criminal sense. 

Finally, I am appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to allowed the IRT Team led by Akan Joseph to continue their investigation because they are so intelligence and familiar with terrain / hide out of some of the remaining murder suspects. I also thanked the Inspector General of  Police (IGP) for coming and rescue me in this matter, this seem to be under the carpet  in the state command since 8th Marcy, 2019, my late son Mr. Udoma Udoma Ubom was killed.
