Primary Health Centre, Oniong Iman, Etinan Local Government Area is to be
equipped to meet the health needs of the people at the grassroots.
The member representing Etinan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rt.Hon Samuel Ikon dropped the hint when he visited the health centre recently.
The health centre which was attracted to the community while he was in the state assembly was constructed under the Inter Ministerial Direct Labour Coordinating Committee.
The national assembly man said it will amount to a huge waste if the magnificent building was not put to use for the benefit of the people at the grassroots and peomised to take up the issue at the appropriate quarter.
"If this place is well equipped, it will benefit the people in this area as it will serve as the first point of call in case of emergency. Our state governor, Mr.Udom Emmanuel has improved health care as one of his agenda and I believe the primary health centres play a critical role in making health accessible to the people"
Responding, Eteidung Edet Utin told the lawmaker past effort by the village council to attract government attention and expressed hope that his coming will pave way for the provision of equipment for the health centre by the government.
The village head assured the national assembly man of the continued support of the people of Oniong Iman and pleaded that the road project being handled by NDDC contractor be completed.
Conducting the lawmaker round the facility, Mrs Udeme Asuquo Jonah said the health centre needs beds, furniture for offices and a perimeter fence to secure the lives of health workers.
