Ikon calls for intensive prayers for Nigeria

The member representing Etinan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rt.Hon Samuel Ikon says the time has come in Nigeria for sincere supplications to God for divine direction for our leaders.

Speaking at a thanksgiving service to mark the 80th birthday of Dr.Sunday Mbang, Prelate Emeritus of Methodist Church Nigeria, Ikon said the time has come for intensive prayers to God for divine intervention that will steer our country out of its present economic woes.

According to him, "it is no longer a laughing matter that people are losing jobs in their number because companies are relocating out of Nigeria. It is sad to read in the papers that someone committed suicide because he could no longer cope with the high cost of living. If there was a time we needed prayers, I can tell that we need it now more than ever"
The thanksgiving which was held at His Eminence Mbang Cathedral, Eket Circuit attracted dignitaries across Nigeria.

The lawmaker described the former National Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN as a father of all and a role model for younger generation worthy of celebration while he lives on and congratulated him for joining the league of octogenarians.

Rt.Hon Ikon also attended the funeral ceremony of the mother of Justice Ekwoo of the Federal High Court, Calabar at Nduo Eduo on Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
