Akan Okon is a traitor – Group

A group working for the former governor of the state, Senator Godswill Akpabio going by the name, Akwa Ibom Conscience for Good Governance has opened a can of worms against the Honourable Commissioner for Finance,, Mr. Akan Okon, accusing him of being behind the current travail of the former governor.

The group in an on-line document sent to THE INK reporter and jointly signed by Chief Effiong Udo Ukpong and Barr Nelson Akpadiaha, President and Secretary respectively came down heavily on the Itu born Banker cum political man, describing him as a blind traitor who bites the fingers that fed him.

According to the document, “there is nothing hidden under the sun.  Mr. Akan Okon releasing documents of the past administration to APC agents in order to prosecute Senator Godswill Akpabio and thereby causing unnecessary disaffection between Governor Udom Emmanuel and Senator Godswill Akpabio cannot in any way fly.  Whatever must have been your intentions, Mr. Akan Okon, you have failed and shall continue to fail.”

The group further accused the Finance Commissioner of abandoning his core mandate as the man to fashion out an economic road map for the state in favour of his ambition to become governor in 2019.

“As Commissioner for Finance, what’s your economic blueprint for the government of Udom Emmanuel?  What have you done to bridge the gap between the government and the masses that you have completely shut them out of your life?  What have been your contributions to where the state is today?  You should better wake up and face the realities of your work and un-impactful governance and leadership rather than engaging in a non-economic venture of governorship in 2019", the group blasts.

The group wonders what political structure the Finance Commissioner is putting in place to help his boss realize his agenda of governance.

They advised him to be careful and stop fanning the embers of hatred and confusion between Senator Godswill Akpabio and his god-s n, Governor Udom Emmanuel.

Efforts to get the Finance Commissioner to respond to these weighty accusations were not successful as he did not react to text messages send to his mobile device.
