Don’t be carried away by euphoria of LG. polls victory …Udomfang advices AKS PDP

The Director Legal Services Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Headquarters, Abuja, Barr. Patrick Udomfang has advised the Party in Akwa Ibom State not to be carried away by the overwhelming victory of the Peoples Democratic Party in the just concluded local government elections. He rather asked politicians and stakeholders in the party to go back to their constituencies and units and work hard towards 2019 general elections.

 Barr. Udomfang gave this clarion call while speaking with newsmen in his country home in Midim, Abak local government area during the 2017 Annual Interdenominational Choir Competition organized by the Udomfang Foundation.

 According to Barr. Udomfang who a former Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the State, he said “we should not sit down in our offices and say we are in control, we are not. It is the people at the grassroots and the units that are in control. Let us go back to our constituencies and work, go back to our units and work, go back to our wards and work, so that we will not sweat much during the 2019 general elections”

 He added that 2019 elections will be a national elections controlled by INEC, therefore the PDP in Akwa Ibom State should work hard so as to achieve the needed victory. 

Choral competition: PDP Chairman, Former Councilor salutes Udomfang

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Midim Ward I in Abak Local government Area, Mr. Michael Akamambet has commended a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the State, Barr. Patrick Udomfang for sustaining the sponsorship of the annual Choral competition for Churches in Midim Clan.

Mr. Akamambet who spoke with journalists during the final of the choir competition described Barr. Udomfang as a worthy and illustrious son of Midim Clan who has used his position to impact positively in on the lives of others.

The PDP Ward Chairman pointed out that the Choral competition has brought unity and togetherness among Churches in the Clan. “I want to thank God for what He has used Hon. Barr. Patrick Udomfang to do, to sustain the sponsorship of this competition for the past 9 years in commendable.

Cleric urges Christians to place God first in their endeavours

The Minister of Qua Ibo Church, 112 Ikot Ekpene road Uyo, Rev Ibup Emmah has called on Christians in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria in general to make God their priority if they must succeeded in 2018.

The man of God in his new year message told our correspondent on tuesday in uyo that the  key to any success is to place God first all dealings,saying God is the mbeginning and end of everything of man.

He used the medium to thank Governor Udom Emanuel for his leadership qualities in the state, describing him as a God fearing leader and a lover of God.
 “According to him, “ Governor Udom is a pride to the state, the christiandom, he is a blessing to Qua Ibo Church and other churches as a whole”.

Rev Emmah said the Governor being a member in his denomination has added a value the them, praying that God should direct the Governor  to govern the state well

A socio-political organization in Annang-Land, Annang Sure Mandate has adopted the immediate past Transition Committee Chairman of Abak, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen as its sole candidate for the Abak State Constituency Seat in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly come 2019.
A statement issued at the end of the year get-together of the organization and signed by the National President, Obong Attah Patrick Thompson, Secretary, Mr. Imoh Thompson and Treasurer, Mr. Isidore Anthony Enang, Annang Sure Mandate described Dr. Emmanuel Udosen as the best material to represent Abak State Constituency in 2019 after carefully assessing all those who have so far indicated their willingness to aspire for the seat.
The organization in the statement, pointed out that while serving as the Transition Committee Chairman of Abak, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen recorded remarkable achievements and did not disappoint the people of Abak.

Odoro Enen lifts Idung Iniang unity trophy

The 2017 edition of Mbre Sam Mbre (Idung Iniang) Unity Cup football Competition in Eket local government area ended with Odoro Enen Football team emerging the overall winners.
In an explosive final match which took place on Sunday, 31st December, 2017 at Primary School, Idung Iniang Odoro Enen defeated Ikot Udoma by 5-4 on penalty shootout after a goalless full time score-line.
The kick-off of the final match which was watched by a full capacity crowd was performed by Mr. Ubong Udonsek.
In the third place match played earlier in the day, Ofriyo defeated Afia Nsit by 5-4 on penalty shoot-out after the match had ended 1-1 at regulation time.
In his speech, the sponsor of the competition, Mr. Marshall Mbre, expressed gratitude to God for the successful hosting of the competition.
Mr. Mbre commended the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for staging a hitch-free competition and lauded the participating teams for the high standard recorded during the competition.

The Youths of Ikot Akpabio Village, Afaha Obong in Abak Local government Area have conferred on the immediate past Transition Committee Chairman of Abak, Dr. Emmanuel Udosen the title of “Abai Ikot Akpabio”.
The event took place on Friday, 30th December, 2017 during the maiden Ikot Akpabio Youth Day Celebration at Ikot Akpabio Village Square.
In his speech, the President, Ikot Akpabio Youth Association, Prince Usen-Obong Joshua said the title conferred on Dr. Udosen was in recognition of the achievements recorded by him while serving as the Transition Committee Chairman for Abak.
Prince Joshua who listed some of the achievements to include; felicitating the establishment of Tilapia Island Resort which according to him, is one of the best recreational outfits in the state, completion of the Council Secretariat Complex which he noted had been abandoned by previous administrations in the area.

AK’ NMA commends Gov Emmanuel *Urges him to Assent to Health Care Development Bills

The chairman NMA AKS has appreciated the government of Akwa Ibom State led by His Excellency, Deacon Udom Emmanuel for giving doctors a conducive atmosphere to operate as the foremost professional body in the state. The association also commended the Commissioner for Health, Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Dominic I. Ukpong for his supportive role in its various activities in 2017.
Speaking after a meeting with the NMA state officers committee, Dr. Uwah applauded the strides made by government in 2017 which were geared towards enhancing health care delivery in our state. Some of these he noted included: the commissioning of the renovated and equipped Etinan General Hospital, the ongoing renovations of General Hospital, Ikono and Ituk Mbang, the training of Doctors and other health workers on emergency medical care and the provision of new residential apartments for House Officers employed by the state government and a lot more.

Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has again assured that, his administration will continue to implement policies that will improve the transport sub sector of the State’s economy. 
Speaking through his Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen, who represented him at the maiden end of year Transporters Get - Together party held at the Ibom Hall Ground on Saturday December 30, Governor Emmanuel expressed delight that,  the  transport sector under the watch of Hon. Orman Esin put together the idea of the get-together, observing that, it will strengthen the bond of unity and progress in the sector. 
Governor Udom Emmanuel lauded the organization and decorum, which he said, has been witnessed in the transport sector and charged members to continue on the positive path they have established. He pledged continued cooperation of the State government with the transporters, adding that, he will continue to ensure that their welfare concerns are addressed. He charged them to remain law abiding and support the PDP government to succeed.

The Councilor representing Afaha Obong Ward 2 in Abak Legislative Council, Hon. Emmanuel Uko has expressed gratitude to God for his victory at the December 2, 2017 local government election.
Hon. Uko who spoke with our reporter at Abak, thanked the leadership of the Party, the elders and the entire people of his Ward for their support, stressing that without them his emergence as the Councilor would not have been possible.
The Councilor solicited their continuous supports and prayers to enable him succeed in the task of giving them effective and qualitative representation. He promised not to disappoint them, but will work harmoniously with the executive Chairman of Abak, Barr. Imoh Williams to attract the much-needed dividends of democracy to the area.
The Executive Chairman of Oruk Anam Local government Area, Rt. Hon. Ubong Bernard Idiong has been coroneted as Obong Uwana Onna by the Paramount Ruler of Onna Local Government Area, HRM Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang at a colourful ceremony in Onna township stadium.
Prince Idiong who was accompanied to the event by a large number of Oruk Anam political stakeholders, wife, royal fathers and OHAFCO 84 old boys, youth and women groups said he felt delighted by the honour. “ I am particularly honoured by the good people of Onna with this chieftaincy title Obong Uwana Onna, it goes to show that my little contribution to humanity is greatly appreciated and it can only spur me to continue adding value to humanity, the council boos noted.
The Obong Uwana Onna beaming with enthusiasm, thanked the Onna Traditional Rulers Councils, for the honour done him and dedicated the award to Jesus Christ who he described as the only savior of the world. The Oruk Anam born politician promised to do his best to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of Oruk Anam in particular and the state in general.

My dream is to play in English Premier League - Emem Eduok

Kasimpasa striker, Emem Eduok has said that his dream is to play for Chelsea football club in the English Premier League.
The Nigerian professional footballer, who plays for Turkish club, Kasimpasa gave the hint last week while interacting with sports journalists in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
According to Emem Eduok, “My dream is to play in the English Premier League, specifically Chelsea football club because they play my kind of football, physically attacking game. Their players are always very physically fit. So I like the club.”
The striker said with the skills that he has, there is no club in the European that he cannot fit it, but he always admired some top clubs in the English Premier League as well as Spanish La Liga.
He noted that since joining the Turkish club, he has so far scored five goals and made many assists which has helped the the club to occupied their current position on the log. The former NPFL highest goal scorer, promised to boost football development in Akwa Ibom State in particular and Nigeria in general.

The newly appointed member, Finance Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Akparawa Nse Ubeh has promised to represent the interest of Akwa Ibom State very well in the glass house.
Nse Ubeh who was recently appointed into the Finance Committee of the highest football body, said his appointment is one of the best things that has happened to Akwa Ibom State.
Ubeh while addressing journalists in Uyo, thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel who had given him the opportunity to serve in the Akwa United Football Club Board as Chairman for ten months, adding that his NFF appointment is as a result that the Governor showcased him to the limelight by appointing him Chairman of the State owned club which won three major trophies within his short tenure in office.
According to the immediate past Akwa United Chairman, “My appointment has go a long way to show that in life, it’s not all about how long, but how well. For the short period that the Governor gave me opportunity to served, l left a record for which I will always be remembered for both in Akwa United and the League Management Company (LMC). “
