FEYReP collaborates with neimeth to deworm Ak. Children
The Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Programme (FEYReP), a pet project of the wife of Akwa Ibom state Governor Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel and Niemeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc. are partnering to deworm Akwa Ibom children with a view to promoting a healthier and better living in the family.

Speaking during the flag-off the deworming exercise held at Ibom Hall, the Governor’s wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel said the partnership became necessary as available statistics indicate that more than 25 million Nigerians are currently infected by worms, adding that the figures for children are even scarier at an estimated 80 percent of the population.

Mrs. Emmanuel applauded Neimeth Pharmaceutical for being at the forefront of the fight against the scourge pointed out that  Akwa Ibom has one of the highest prevalence of Soil-Transmitted Helminthes (STH).  She noted that providing vital and affordable medicines for mass de-worming, shows the  important role the company is playing in improving healthcare in our country and as well appreciated them for living up to theircorporate social responsibilityof investing  and creating awareness on this critical health care challenge.
The Governor’s wife called on Akwa Ibom people especially mothers to embark on regular de-worming exercise as children are more vulnerable. She also advised the children to stay clean, wash their hands regularly and ensure a hygiene Environment, assuring that government on its part will continue to partner with key health sector stakeholders in ensuring that our children are worm free. 

In her welcome remarks, the coordinator of FEYReP, Mrs. ImeInyang described the exercise as a soothing balm to the vulnerable children in the society.  She noted that in view of the objectives of the organization, they decided to partner with Neimeth International to deworm Akwa Ibom children saying there is need for the state to stay healthier. Mrs. Inyang appreciated the Governor’s wife for her love for the vulnerable in the society and as well applauded Neimeth for being a strong partner in touching lives.

Earlier in her remarks, the Managing Director of Neimeth International, Mrs. EbereEkpunobi said as a leading company in health care, her company decided to partner with FEYReP because both organizations’ goals aligned. She noted that over 85percent of children are affected  by intestinal infections especially in a developing country and lauded the Governor’s wife for initiating her pet project which she said is geared towards touching and adding value to lives . Mrs. Ekpunobi however called for the sustenance of the school health care programme assuring that her company has an obligation to act for the benefit of the society by enhancing positive relationship between the society and the company.

In their goodwill messages, Head Corporate Affairs and General Services Neimeth International, NwakaOkoro, Hon. Commissioner for women Affairs and social welfare, Dr. Glory Edet, her Science and Technology counterpart, Dr. Elizabeth Obot all thanked the Governor’s wife for her motherly love for Akwa Ibom children, stressing that FEYReP within just few months have added value to lives positively across the state.

Highpoint of the exercise was the presentation of a plague to the Governor’s wife Mrs. Martha Emmanuel officially inducting her as the Matron of the Pyrantrin Kids Club, a brainchild of Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc.
