Umana Okon Umana pleads for calm, welcome Jonathan to Akwa Ibom

The leading aspirants for the PDP gubernatorial ticket, Mr. Umana Okon Umana has disassociated himself from the rumoure making the rounds that his supporters plan to disrupt the visit of the president of Nnigeria to Akwa Ibom State on Friday.

He also stressed on the need for his supporters to remain calm as he is still in the race stressing that power belongs to God which has been his avowed believe from the onset.

A statement issued by his media adviser, Iboro Ootngaran reads; “We want to state categorically that this is not true. Umana does not have any plan or intention—neither does anyone working for his political organisation—to disrupt the upcoming visit of the President to Akwa Ibom State. There is no such plan against the President by Ibom Development Network, which is the organisation promoting Umana’s political project, nor by anyone else working with him as an individual.”

Umana said the rumour against him is not only false, it is also malicious maintaining that the purveyors of the rumour must have an evil intention that they want to use in making scapegoats of innocent and peace loving people in the state.

“We are therefore calling on the security agencies to take appropriate actions against agent provocateurs in the state administration who may have hatched plots to foment trouble during the President’s visit and turn round to hang it on Umana, or other innocent people in the state.”

He however advised his supporters to come out en mass and welcome our President to Akwa Abasi Ibom State.

Meanwhile Mr. Umana said his utmost loyalty to the authority and the people of Akwa Ibom remain unshaken adding that despite moves to subvert the will of the people, he was still encouraged by the resolute stand of Akwa Ibom people to choose for themselves the man with the requisite experience, capacity and competence, to govern them.

He urged his supporters across the state to remain steadfast and unwavering in their commitment to enthrone a government they could call their own and  advised them to remain vigilant, loyal and peaceful as they keep pressing on in their determination to resist imperialistic imposition of a governor on them.
Mr. Umana stated that he believes strongly that power belongs to God as well as resides in the people of the state and they would offer it to the person who has the ability to carter for their interest.

“I am encouraged by the stand of the people of this state to resist imposition. It is a resolve that intimidation, falsity, money and all manners of underhand dealings cannot break us. Our people are ready and at the appropriate time, they will show that they cannot be taken for granted the way some people think they can. I want to assure you that I will not only run for the office of governor, I am optimistic that our people will give me the mandate to bring back love and unity among the various parts of the state,” Umana said.
