2015 Guber Race: Oro Royal Fathers slam anti-oro politicians with traditional sanctions

The quest to enthrone the next Akwa Ibom Governor of Oro extraction by the people of Oro nation has taken a new dimension as royal fathers under the aegis of Council of Oro Traditional Rulers, invoked traditional sanction on all Oro sons and daughters who will mortgage the collective interest of Oro people for their selfish political interest in 2015.

Angered by what they described as gross intentional neglect and marginilisation of Oro nation by the past and present administrations in the state in terms of infrastructural development and symbolic appointments, royal fathers across  the five local government areas of Oro nation, yesterday converged on the ancestral “Obio Ufere Oro” in Okobo local government area and invoked the gods of the land on any Oro son or daughter who indulges in anti-Oro politics or prepare to vote against Oro interest in the November, 29, 2014 PDP Governorship primaries.

The traditional rulers had also selected and empowered two to three clan heads per local government area of Oro nation to serve eight (8) prominent indigenes of Oro suspected to be campaigning for the emergence of Udom Emmanuel as Governor Akpabio’s successor with the traditional injunction (Okpin Oro) known in Ibibio language as ayei.

The embattled Oro politicians who incurred the wrath of Oro traditional rulers included the chairman of Mbo Local Government Area, Mr. Victor Antai; the Hon. Minister for Lands and Urban Development, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi, the chairman of Okobo, Oron, Udung Uko and Uruoffong/Oruko local government areas.

Princess Felicia Bassey, Mr. Orman Esin, Mrs. Kenim Onofiok and Mr. Okon Tom Osung.
Others are: A member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Representing Mbo State constituency, Mrs. Alice Ekpenyong, and Commissioner for Education, Prof. Mrs. Atim Atai.
In their separate speeches a prominent son of Oro nation, Ambassador Etim Uye, Vice President I of Oro Union, Chief Ulo Ante Uye, the Secretary of Council of Oro Traditional Rulers, Offong Nyong Isaac Nkereuwem, Chief Edet Moses, Chief Bassey Etim Edet, the chairman, and as the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Council of Oro Traditional Rulers, Chief Edet Isemin and others warned politicians from Oro nation to jettison their selfish moves of jeopardizing Oro’s interest in 2015, stating that  a true Oro son and daughter must come together and foster a common front to promote Oro cause or be ready to face the wrath of Oro traditional rulers.

The speakers maintained that Akwa Ibom State was created on tripod of Ibibio, Annang and Oro, adding that Ibibio and Annang have taken their slots of the plum job remaining Oro whose turn is ripe in 2015.

The royal fathers and stakeholders of Oro extraction wondered why modern-day selfstyled historians are bent on rewriting the history of Akwa Ibom State in order to circumvent the age-long zoning formula for the office of the governor.

“Power shift on the  basis of tripod is the only panacea for Our development since no development can thrive in an atmosphere of injustice orchestrated by victimization, marginalization, oppression, suppression, subjugation and modern-day slavery”, one of the speakers stated.
The royal fathers hinted that Oro  sons and daughters who kick against the ongoing struggle to produce Akwa Ibom governor of Oro extraction in 2015 will be treated as hard-earned enemies of Oro nation and have automatically placed a curse on themselves, their families and generation.
