Emmanuel Ekpenyong joins guber race - Picks APC gubernatorial form

    - Says victory will be a surprise

The member representing Uyo Federal  Constituency at the National Assembly, Rt Hon Emmanuel Ekpenyong has declared intention to contest the forth coming governorship Election in Akwa Ibom State and had filled and returns his expression of interest and Nomination form.

Mr. Ekpenyong, who is the only APC law maker from Akwa Ibom in the National Assembly made this know over the weekend during an interaction with our report in his Ewet Housing Resident Uyo.
He said his determination to contest the forth coming election was born out of his interest for the state, saying that after he had studied the political development in the state, he observed that nothing was zoned to his Federal Constituency, and due to the fact that his party, the APC does not consider zoning of political office except after the election. Adding that the gubernatorial contest in APC was open to all regardless of the person’s Tribe and Tongue, as in the case of their posit panties “arrangement in our party is open to every Akwa Ibom person, who are quality to contest.”

He said his aspiration was propelled by the quality concept of his party, the APC.
While expressing optimism that he is not only contesting the election with other aspirants, Obong Ekpenyong said he will take over from Government Akpabio come May 29 ,2015, “ You will be surprise at the end of the of the day but that is always the case”

On the issue of the big-wigs in the APC who have equally indicated their interest, the Law maker said “Politics is a game of calculation base on one’s interest and what I’m aspiring for; I know what I am aspiring for and as such no-body will be able to intimidate me”
He challenges his opponent to come to the field and test their popularity.

He said he wants his Akwa Ibom People to expect positive change in the system and equality before the Law when he takes over from 2015. Stressing that for the first time in the history of Akwa Ibom State a Law maker who had served in the State House of Assembly and currently serving in the Federal House of Representative will emerge as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, saying that he wants to set a pace.
“I am coming to correct the abnormal and implement the real Laws we made at the legislative arm of Government.

“In terms of appropriation of budget, we are going to discipline ourselves and we will work according to the provision of the budget.”

He said his responsibilities will amongst other be respect for the resolution of the legislative arm.
A brief history shows that Mr. Emmanuel Ekpenyong hails from Nsit Atia  Local Government Area. He has served in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from 2003 – 2007 as the Deputy Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly

He is currently representing Uyo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
