The last may not have been heard of the last PDP ward congress that was organized by the party in the state last Saturday. THE INK gathered from very reliable and credible sources that due to the disenfranchisement of Party leaders and stakeholders, the PDP stalwarts had written strong worded petitions to the Presidency and the National hierarchy of the party.

Initially, our reporter gathered that the petition may have been swept under the carpet but with the recent threat from Senators that they will dump the Party and also frustrate the second term ambition of the President, since, he had conceded party structures at the state level to Governors.

But a source from the office of the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Political matters informed our reporter that the petitions sent to the President and the National leadership of the party will definitely be given attention.

Our source said almost all the states of the federation have peculiar challenges as far as the ward congress just concluded is concerned. But noted that the problems from Akwa Ibom State are too much to be ignored. He said so far that the petitions he is privy to all accuse the Governor for stage managing the event and also indicted the Ibrahim Abdulazeez committee for what he described as selling out. Our source maintained that the PDP will do everything possible to ensure that all parties concerned are adequately given attention. When asked whether there is the possibility of cancellation of the congress especially that of Akwa Ibom State, our source said, he feels very strongly that there will definitely be a need to conduct a fresh exercise to allow party members have a say of their own. He said it is not the happiness of the President or any ranking member of the PDP to go into an election with a divided House. He posited that the PDP will do the needful to ensure that all parties concerned are treated well.

Also speaking, a member of the National Working Committee of the Party hinted our reporter that the PDP at Wadata plaza have been unsettled with reports coming in from states on the conduct and outcome of the PDP ward congress. Our source who spoke behind camera informed THE INK reporter that Wadata plaza have been acknowledging the complaints sent to it and it will definitely attend to it to ensure that all parties who feel shortchanged are addressed. Our source said, the PDP will be left with no other option but to call for a cancellation of the congress and another conducted.

Our source who spoke from a position of strength hinted that PDP is not a one man party and in other that the party go into the general election with all amount of confidence, it will be left with no other choice but to cancel the much abused and criticized congress that was held in the state.

Last week Sunday, Atuekong Don Etiebet had while addressing news men insisted that what was done last Saturday was not a ward congress of the PDP but a sham. He has called for the cancellation of the exercise. He maintained also that he was going to ensure that he takes the agitation for the cancellation to Abuja to ensure that justice is done.

Meanwhile, the irregularities in the PDP will continue until something urgent is done about it. The people of Esit Eket are however raising complains on a new list said to be allegedly doctored by Elder Benjamin Udobia to favour his brother Imo who is interested in the race to the state House of Assembly. It could be recalled that our reporter had gotten authentic delegates list from Esit Eket last Sunday after the congress but today the list appears to have been doctored to suit the beck and call of Benji Udobia. But the Elders have promised to take their matter to the highest point if the original list is doctored.

Meanwhile, there is apprehension in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area following what many people say the outright insult meted to the likes of Effiong Bob, Umana Okon Umana and other political chieftains of the area. Our reporter learnt that the list for Nsit Ubium was hijacked by the junior nephew to Governor Akpabio, Prince Ukpong Akpabio. Watchers of the exercise understood that Prince Akpabio is acting a script that was directed from above. 

It was learnt that there is tension in Nsit Ubium as the delegates list hijacked by Prince Ukpong Akpabio is said to be causing disharmony in the Local Government Area.
