Federal Polytechnic Ukana gets acting rector, EMEM PAUL UDOFIA, PhD, CLN, FIPP
The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, has appointed Dr. Mrs. EmemUdofia as acting Rector for the Polytechnic. This follows the completion of the tenure of the pioneer Rector Prof. BalamaObomanu on the 9th of June, 2018.
Until her recent appointment, Dr. Mrs. Udofia was the Polytechnic Librarian. She is to hold office pending the appointment of a substantive Rector for the Polytechnic.
In a brief handing over ceremony, the outgone Rector Prof. BalamaObomanu thanked the Management of the Polytechnic for the cooperation given him and expressed optimism that such will be given to the acting Rector.
Mrs. Udofia has promised in her acceptance speech thanked the Governing Council for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to work tirelessly to lift the standard of the Polytechnic.
MEET THE ACTING RECTOR FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC UKANA, EMEM PAUL UDOFIA, PhD, CLN, FIPP
This seasoned and accomplished library professional, UDOFIA, Emem Paul was born in January 24, 1957, in Ede-Obom 1, Nsit Ibom L.G.A, Akwa Ibom State. Dr. Udofia attended Bayero University, Kano and University of Uyo and bagged a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science/English Language (BA, BLS), Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS) and Ph.D. in Library Science.
This great academic has occupied different management positions. Few among whom are: Librarian in Charge - College of Education, Afaha Nsit, Head, Department of Educational Technology and Library Science, University of Uyo, Pioneer Polytechnic Librarian, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana. She has taught and supervised several students in the Department of Educational Technology/Library Science, University of Uyo.
Dr. Udofia has attended several conferences, workshops and seminars; published over fifty journal articles and has five books chapters. She is a member of Nigerian Library Association (NLA) American Library Association (ALA), American Academic & Research Libraries (AARI), Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Reading Association of Nigeria (RAN), Nigeria Primary and Secondary Teacher Education Association (NPSTEA), Member, Nigerian Society for Psychical Research (NSPR), World Organisation for Early Childhood Education (OMEP), Association for Promoting African Girls in Engineering, Science & Technology Education (APAGESTE), Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), International Network of Women Engineers and Scientist (INWES), Fellow of Institute of Practicing Professionals of Nigeria (FIPPN), African Library and Information Association (AFLIA).
Dr. Udoifa; a Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN) was former Assistant Secretary (AWLIN), Vice Chairperson and Chairperson of NLA. This alluring scholar has received many awards and recognitions some of which include: Woman of Excellence Merit Award (WEMA), African Legacy Makers Award (ALEMA), Nigerian Library Association (NLA) Merit Award, Fellowship Award – Institute of Practicing Professionals of Nigeria.
She has special interest in reading, writing and donating literatures for children, young adults and examining out advocacy programmes for the development of reading culture.
She is married to Dr. Paul Udofia and blessed with an adorable daughter.
