Women from Eket Local Government Area under the ageis of AKOYAK ladies over the weekend paid a surprise visit to the Chairman of the Governing Board of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Ikot Osurua Dr. Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi.

The delegation in their numbers drawn from the different wards of Eket local Government Area was led by Helen Ekanem.

In her remarks she said that the group having studied and access the kind of woman Eyakenyi is, they have no choice than to throw their weight of support behind her.

Helen Ekanem described Eyakenyi as a woman that has over the years demonstrated qualitative capacity adding that the senatorial hopeful is a consummate politician who is down to earth and very accommodating and hence the reasons why they have to adopt her as the candidate for the Eket senate position.

Responding, Dr. Mrs Eyakenyi described the group as a very wonderful and result oriented body. She acknowledged the support the group has been garnering for her even when she was yet to meet with them adding that the reward for the group will soon manifest.

Mrs. Eyakenyi who took time out to explain in details to her guests the impact of Governor Udom Emmanuel on the life of Akwa Ibom State also urged the body not to relent in continuously supporting the State Governor whom she described as a man who is honest in leadership. She maintained that with Governor Udom at the helms of affairs beyond 2019, that Akwa Ibom would have been transformed to an industrial hub.

She also urged the women to go get their PVCs as it is the tool in which they will use to deliver Governor Udom Emmanuel come 2019.
Eyakenyi also added that it is her desires to ensure that another Akon Eyakenyi emerges across the state.

She urged the women to unite and take advantage of their numerical strength so as to make whomever they wish to win.

Eyakenyi who had earlier served as a minister accepted the offer to run as a Senator and promised that she will ensure that she does not disappoint the people.

Speaking further, she discouraged the women from pride and tasked them to be more focus in their discipline and craft work.

She said God wants another Esther to be there and that she represents that Esther.

Prayers of blessings were offered to the Senate hopeful.

High point of the event was the presentation of gift items to the former minister.
