Students of Esit Eket extraction in the university of Uyo, have unanimously restated their unflinching support and determination to work and actualize the aspiration of Hon. Ibanga Etang to be in the state legislature in 2019 representing Esit Eket/Ibeno state constituency on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
They have equally declared him the sole candidate for the position based on his excellent performance as the executive chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Council between 2012 – 2015.
students under the aegis of concerned Esit Eket Student at University of Uyo led by Mr. Uduak Aduakide said, by this visit, we have formally flag-off intense mobilization and declare our total support to you as the only visionary and accessible candidate that will represent Esit Eket/Ibeno in the seven assembly.
This resolution according to him, is in the overall interest and collective wellbieng of the elders, women, students and youths of the two councils that constitute the constituency.
Aduakide noted, though legislators assignment and responsibilities could be challenging with unpredicted economic and new political environment, but as a committed grassroot politician, Etang should remain resolute and focused.
He appealed to him to adopt a pragmatic approach in his representation and lawmaking procedures to make a remarkable difference.
The chairman, forum of concerned chapter heads, urged him to evolve a personal blue print that will ameliorate the plight of Esit/Ibeno students and the teeming graduates by sourcing for jobs, micro-credit facilities, scholarship as he did during his tenure as the council boss.
Elder Ibanga Etang in his resoonse, applauded the students for their love and concern in his aspiration and accepted their plea to represent them in the state legislature in 2019. He disclosed, he had to visit and familiarize with them before election and to share their challenges, needs and expectation with a view to address it.
Etang solicited for their prayers, support and advice to enable him deliver on his mandate when he eventually assumes the position. He attributed his victory in the council polls in 2012 to God who was solely behind his ambition and sued for understanding and forgiveness by those he might have stepped on their toes during his tenure as chairman, regretted, it was not deliberate but necessary to ensure he deliver on his mandate.
He pledged to do more for the constituency is given the mandate and to leave up to expectation of all including students. The former council boss disclosed he has a soft spot for students, youths especially the indigent ones.
He debunk insinuation of not paying students their bursary as council boss insisted, he will defray that debt to all students involved whether still in school or not.
His adoption as the sole candidate for the position in 2019 came on a motion by Mr. Uyobong Enoch and seconded by Liberty Okon Edet.
