Finance Ministry donates to Orphanage Home
The Management and Staff of the  Ministry of Finance have donated food and other items worth thousands of Naira to inmates of Goodnews Humanitarian Foundation, Gospel village, Abak LGA.
 
Among the items donated were bags of rice, garri, yams ,cartons of biscuits,noodles ,groundnut oil, tin milk, and toiletries ranging from tissue paper, toilet soaps, toothpaste, and many others.
 
Presenting the gifts, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Eme-Ette Imuk ,who stood in for the Commissioner, Mr.Akan Okon described the day as memorable, and expressed delight to be in the midst of the inmates whom she called children of destiny.
 Taking a text from Exodus 33:18-19,the Permanent Secretary admonished the children to be obedient ,noting that whatever their lives ambitions, they needed a foundation in God who alone will show them his glory, and aid the realization of their dreams and aspirations.
 
Receiving the gift items, the Director-General of the Foundation, Mrs Promise Essien, described the visit as their season to shine, especially against the backdrop of the visit to the home by the wife of the State Governor, Mrs Martha Emmanuel, the previous day, and appreciated the Ministry of Finance family for their show of love and support to the children.
 
She said the foundation, which is the brainchild of Archbishop Elijah Mboho, Carter’s for social and welfare needs of over 250 inmates ranging from formal and informal education, healthcare, and rehabilitation into the larger society
The inmates on their parts rendered different songs and offered prayers for the well being of the Commissioner ,Mr. Akan Okon, Permanent Secretary and Staff of the Ministry .
 
High point of the visit was a courtesy call on the General Overseer of Gospel Village, Archbishop Elijah and wife, Edu, who were on hand to accord the team a warm reception.
 
Speaking with the reporter at the end of the visit, Archbishop Mboho thanked God for the peaceful transition to a new democratic dispensation of Governor Udom Emmanuel, and expressed the hope that his tenure would witness greater developmental strides, notably the industrial revolution, wishing him a fruitful stay in office.
