EFCC Freezes A’Ibom State Accounts * Godswill Akpabio fingered

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has frozen all the bank accounts of the State Government, government house source said.

Findings show that the reason for the EFCC action may not be unconnected with Senator Akpabio’s  insatiable financial demands from the State coffer of which the Governor has outrightly rejected several times.

It was gathered that Akpabio has been demanding the sum of two billion naira monthly from the State Government which Governor Udom Emmanuel has been refusing to comply.

Our source said before Senator Akpabio’s planned defection, he had made with some powers that by at the National level, urging them to freeze the State Accounts to enable him negotiate for his payment with the state government.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Linus Nkan were abortive as he could not be reached to confirm the report.

But sources close to the Akwa Ibom Finance Commissioner for confirmed the development.

THE INK gathered from a very top source in the EFCC that the former Senate minority leader is behind the freezing of the AKSG account.

Our source who spoke from Abuja said, Akpabio had lobbied the EFCC Chairman to get that done. It was gathered that the plot is to ensure that the State Governor can no longer pay salaries and gratuities of workers as Governor Emmanuel’s ability to handle workers salaries and gratuities remain the Governor’s strongest point.

Godswill Akpabio is said to have obtained the support from ITA Enang with the belief that such action will make Governor Emmanuel very u popular and will hence lose the confidence of the people.

Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom Elders have warned that Godswill Akpabio Akpabio should respect his decision to defect and added that if he intends to use his new found FG might to victimise the State, on they will be left with no other option than to ensure that he never visits the State again.

One of the Elders who spoke to us said, I if he has done that, I he should be ready to face Akwa Ibom people and if he feels he can use his FG force to create problems I have this state, we will ensure that he runs away and never return to this state again.
