Uyo Chairmanship race: I’m contesting to bring development to entire Uyo - Prince Udoh
Ahead of the forth coming Local Government polls, a chairmanship aspirant for Uyo Local Government Area, Prince (Comrade) Udeme Etim Udoh, has promised to key into the five point agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel if elected as Chairman of the Council.
The five point agenda, according to the aspirant include: Wealth Creation, Economic and Political Inclusion, Poverty Alleviation, Infrastructural Consolidation and Expansion, as well as Job Creation.
In an exclusive chat with our Correspondent, in Uyo, Comrade Udoh, a native of Mbiabong Ikono, in Ikono Clan, Uyo Local Government Area, said he was in the chairmanship race to bring the needed development to his people.
The Uyo-based business mogul turned politician stated that the five point agenda of Governor Emmanuel was working and promised to adopt it if elected as the next Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area.
Industrialization: Abak Transition Chairman attracts Foreign Investment
The industrial development and wealth creation revolution of the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration has received a massive boost in Abak, as the Local Government is set to experience enormous industrial upheaval with the calibre of companies that have begun to arrive Abak invited by the Chairman, Honourable Dr Emmanuel Udosen.
Dr Emmanuel Udosen, the Transition Chairman of Abak has successfully attracted three foreign investors who are already on ground to invest billions of naira in the industrialization of the area.
According to Hon. Udosen, the first investor, Tilapia Island Company Limited has started site clearing for the Development of an Abak Natural Lake Side and Recreational Park to be sited beside Ediene Abak hanging bridge. The tourism project will create over 100 direct employment opportunities for the youths of the area and likewise serve as an avenue for revenue generation when fully commissioned. Other sight attractions of the Park are an Artificial Zoo, Fish Pond, Canoe padding, and other entertainment spots.
Nigerian indigenes in Mbo Mangrove Island consider citizenship in Cameroon
Some indigenes of the 16 communities in Mbo mangrove island of Akwa Ibom State whose communities are allegedly annexed by Cameroon are considering taking up citizenship in Cameroon to save themselves the trauma of repeated molestation by Cameroonian authorities.
This was gathered during a meeting between stakeholders of Mbo Local Government Area and representatives of the National Boundary Commission.
During the meeting at Enwang, Mbo Local Government headquarters, stakeholders of Mbo called on the federal government to officially delineate and demarcate Nigeria’s maritime boundaries with Cameroon.
The stakeholders said delineation and demarcation of the boundaries will forestall further annexation of their communities and molestation of their people by Cameroon military.
They decried the laxity exhibited by the federal government in correcting the nation’s boundary with Cameroon 13 years after the judgement of the International Court of Justice.

The Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties, Engr Etido Inyang has explained the cause of delay in the proposed Ibom deep seaport.
The Commissioner who is also a former Special Adviser to Former Governor Akpabio on Technical matters also assured that project would be delivered for use before 2019.
Speaking while interacting with some newsmen in his Ewet Housing resident, Engr Inyang said that where the plaque is situated is the actual site where the ground breaking ceremony for Ibom Industrial city was carried out , and not for the deep seaport as insinuated in some quarters .
According to him, “When Akpabio came to power, there were a lot of concepts of developing a seaport. Individuals and even government did not have a position. And the land mass acquired was about 5000 plus hectares. It was in the era of Akpabio that we acquired up to 14,400 hectares of lands . This was so because when we did the initial interrogation with the Nigerian Port Authority-NPA and other stakeholders that are developing seaports. “

We began the scheduled interview almost an hour after I arrived. A young man led me up the stairway and I met her in one of the interior lobbies. She had the company of a big-sized friend. She smiled warmly to welcome me. Her friend didn’t, she only fixed a gaze at me. I could tell the former commissioner had intimated her about my mission. People, in twos and threes were trooping in and out.
This could be interpretative of one conjecture; Eunice may be out of public office but she isn’t out of public service, and she hasn’t disconnected from the people. We began with informal discussions and chatted like old buddies. The session was halted briefly by the arrival of someone I would define as a budding, yet popular politician and prominent leader. The informal session became enlarged to accommodate him. The guy was good company, he intermittently swam in self-adulation but had the friendly rebukes of his host to contend with.

Born on 13th June 1965, Hon. Henry Udofia, a scion of the Eyo Enu family of Idu-Uruan, is a graduate of political science and public administration of the University of Uyo. He had had his early education in Idu-Uruan No. 1 primary school, Uruan, and further obtained the West African School Certificate in 2001.
Hon Henry Udofia is vastly exposed in many areas of life, and is no doubt well equipped to steer the affairs of the Uruan people. He served as councillor in Uruan local government area between 1999 and 2002. Within this period, he represented his people with distinction in the capacity of a Majority Leader.
On the floor of the council legislature, Hon Udofia was active as one of the most forceful and influential voices. His life as a successful and respected businessman extols this hardworking son of AkwaIbom state who has worked his way up the ladder to achieve the great and monumental feat that has positioned him tops among his peers.
Gov Emmanuel task leaders to bequeath positive legacies for posterity
Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has attributed the elevation of Major General Isidore Henry Edet to the high echelon in his Military career to God’s benevolence and commitment to duty.
The Governor stated this during a family thanksgiving service organised by General Edet at St Peters Parish, Uko Akpan Ewang, Mbo Local Government Area to appreciate God on his benevolence.
He congratulated Major General Edet and noted that his success is a clear case of determination for greatness in line with the administration’s social re-orientation DAKAADA philosophy.
Governor Emmanuel challenged the youths to emulate the zeal of greatness exemplified by the General in all their endeavours and expressed optimism that Akwa Ibom son would rise to the highest position not only in the Military career but in other fields of endeavour.

Government is known generally to be the ruling power of a country or state vested in the hands of few individuals who make laws and enforce them on behalf of every other person within the confine of that state or country. Anybody working for the government is said to be acquiring a percentage of this power no matter how small and like their superiors, they command respect in their designated offices no matter how minute.

As an institution of the state, government is the machinery or agency through which the will of the state is formulated, realised and expressed. This implies that it is an institution established by the state to rule the affairs of the state in the interest of all. State in this regard means a politically organised group of people living together in a geographically located defined territory where law and order exists. Government is selected by appointment or election by the people and when this occurs, the elected or appointed body is vested with the power and authority to maintain security, peace and stability by making and enforcing conventional and fundamental laws in their given areas of jurisdiction. These laws which serve as guidelines also regulate the activities of the citizenry and at the same time, steers the activities of the state forward.

As the state eagerly awaits the constitution of Boards and parastatals, fresh information gathered by THE INK reveals that Pastor Andrew Uwanta, the ACA warlord has been penciled down to chair the Akwa Ibom state Local Government Service Commission.
It was learnt last night that the decision by the state Governor Mr. Udom Emmanuel to handover that sensitive position to Uwanta was to compensate the Etinan born Brotherhood Apostle for his contributions towards the success of the PDP gubernatorial candidate during last April elections.
It was also gathered that Uwanta is a nominee of Sir Emem Akpabio. The imminent appointment of the ACA chairman and coordinator has put paid to all speculations that Governor Udom Emmanuel has dumped Uwanta despite the concerted contributions of the politician towards his victory.
Celebration in Etinan over Barr Dennis re-election
Women, youth groups and others took to the streets of Etinan Local Government in the early hours of Sunday 13th March 2016 when news broke out that the PDP candidate Barr Aniefiok Dennis has emerged the winner of the Etinan State Constituency re- run held the previous day.
It could be recalled that the court of Appeal sitting in Abuja had earlier upturned the initial victory of Barr Dennis thereby setting the tone for a re-run in Etinan State Constituency.
As the momentum for the election gathered Steam, Barr Dennis and others began consultation. All parties took their campaigns to the people promising what they can do if voted into the Assembly.
On his own, Barr Dennis who has earlier emerged as the Deputy Leader of the Sixth Assembly has harped on his continuous empowerment of his people. The learned gentleman had informed Etinan State Constituents that his pact with them is and will continue to be service that they can trust.
