In a statement signed by the Head, Media and Publicity Unit,  Ikot Ekpene LGA, Mr. Mansseh Umoette,  Abatai was only acting the script of his pay masters who are disgruntled politicians in Ikot Ekpene Local government area that desperately in search of space in the system.

All the allegation made by Abatai against Useh Umoette added are infantile and baseless as they exist only in the warped minds of Abatai and those he represents.

Patrick Albert: Rebranding Akwa Ibom NUJ

When Elder Patrick Albert and his Rebirth Campaign Group went round the eleven chapels in the Akwa Ibom State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists with the message “Let’s reclaim our union”, many saw it as an attempt by a power seeking unionist to take power from an incumbent.

Two months after, events at the NUJ Press Centre and the new perception of the public is gradually changing by the day by the government, its officials and the general public are beginning to renew the once lost confidence in journalists especially those practicing in the state.

Idongesit Ntekpere and the transformation in Obot Akara

Idongesit Ntekpere and the transformation in Obot Akara

Since the creation of Obot Akara Local Government Area some years back, administrations have come and gone. Some council chairmen have performed while others have not lived up to the expectations of the people. However, the present administration, led by the Chairman of the Area, Hon. (Prince) Idongesit Ntekpere has within one year, surprised the people of the Area by being an agent of transformation.

Although some Local Government Chairpersons in the State have been in the habit of lamenting to their citizens, insufficient funds, little or delayed allocation from the state and inadequate machinery for the implementation of democracy dividends which often times, protracts to non-payment of workers, the Obot Akara Council Chairman has been able to use the little allocation given to him to embark on life-touching projects which has changed the face of the area. Those who did not believe his performances were marveled when the Council Boss invited members of the Press for a briefing as part of the activities marking his one year in office last week. Hon. Ntekpere took time to highlight his achievements in the past one year.
