Xmas day mayhem: OKON Eket writes Police commissioner


The People of OKON Eket have written the state commissioner for police Mr. Umar Gwadabe on the Christmas day mayhem that claimed some lives of youths of the area. In a communiqué captioned 

COMMUNIQUE OF OKON CLAN COUNCIL OF CHIEFS ON THE VIOLENT DISTURBANCES, DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTIES, LOSS OF LIVES THAT OCCURRED AT IKOT OKUDOM, OKON, EKET LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA ON 25TH DECEMBER, 2013 and made available to THE INK indicates that an emergency meeting of the clan was held on Saturday, 28th December, 2013 at the Council’s Chambers, Ikot Obioro, Okon, Eket Local Government Area, to deliberate on the violent disturbances, destruction of properties and loss of lives, that occurred at Ikot Okudom Village in Okon, Eket Local Government Area, on the 25th day of December, 2013.

AKSG to sign MoU with Central Bank

The State government is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Bank of Nigeria to access N2Billion from the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund (MSNEDF) to support micro and small businesses in the State.

The Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Akan Okon gave the hint during a meeting with operators of Micro Finance Banks in the State, held at the conference room of the Ministry last week.

 AKSG to sign MOU with Central Bank


The State government is to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Bank of Nigeria to access two billion naira from the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise Development Fund (MSNEDF) to support micro and small businesses in the State.

The Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Akan Okon gave the hint during a meeting with operators of Micro Finance Banks in the State, held at the conference room of the Ministry yesterday.
Mr. Okon said the Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria has made available two hundred and twenty billion naira to States with each State entitled to access two billion naira for micro, small and medium scale businesses.
