Former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Chief Nduese Essien has urged Gov. Udom Emmanuel to consider setting up Oil Producing Commission area in Akwa Ibom State. Essien made the call in an interview with the newsmen in Eket Local Government Area on Thursday. He said that the 13 per cent derivation should be paid to oil producing communities in view of the devastating effects of explorations and exploitations by oil companies on the host communities. Essien lamented that the non establishment of the Commission had caused untold hardship among the oil bearing communities in the state.

Udom Emmanuel and his day of Glory BY ANIEFIOK MACAULEY
"The state governor while congratulating the Secretary to the State Government for his faithfulness in God and for imbibing the culture of thanksgiving said “God has accepted this thanksgiving. This is what I like all Akwa Ibom children to emulate. You have to imbibe the spirit of always coming back to thank God.”
Going back memory lane, Akpabio recalled “when I came in as governor in 2007, I came like this to thank God and the little I knew about governance because as a neophyte, I did not know much about governance.”
Akwa Ibom people, men, women and children in different colourful uniforms adorned the canopies, the Real Brass and the Little David saxophonist were on hand to provide melodious tones to the listening pleasure of the excited crowd, the politicians and captains of industry joined voices in thanking God in behalf of Emmanuel’s family.

2015: Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency Forum strongly recommends Ekere, commends Akpabio
As the 2015 gubernatorial race commences in Akwa Ibom State, the Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency Forum has thrown its weight behind the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Nsima Ekere.
The decision to strongly recommend Mr. Ekere, was taken on Friday, January 17, 2014 at the Ikot Abasi Local Government Council Hall during the seventh general meeting of the forum, which is the umbrella organization for the people of Ikot Abasi, Eastern Obolo and Mkpat Enin, the three local government areas constituting the constituency.
It is the latest in what is increasingly a serial endorsement of Mr. Ekere by different groups and pressure on him to run, coming after the founding fathers of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency and the Third Republic Members of the House of Representatives from Akwa Ibom State had earlier adopted him as their preferred candidate and urged him to run.
