The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Akwa Ibom State Council, Elder Patrick Albert has stressed the need for members to remain on the ethical path to exhibit good professional conduct while covering the ongoing 2015 general elections.

Albert gave the charge in Uyo while fielding questions from newsmen over the outcome of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The State NUJ boss said it was interesting to see the enthusiasm among voters which led to massive turnout across the three Senatorial Districts in the State.

Q.I.C. change of name saga: Church opts for traditional injunction …UEC seeks CAN to intervene

BY OFONIME UDOTU

Contrary to what the Holy Book has instructed, two warring Christian denominations have opted to secure their property first on earth before seeking the kingdom of God. Formerly of one fold, members of Qua Iboe Church of Nigeria and their split away brethren, United Evangelical Church, (UEC) both in Ikot Akpa Nkuk are locking horns in a fierce battle over the ownership of the land donated to Qua Iboe Church at its advent in the area.

The deepening assumed an incredible dimension recently when the village council in the area put a tradition injunction of palm frond restraining both parties from using the land which forms part of UEC premises, at the back of Ukanafun local government Secretariat.

2015 Governorship: A’Ibom at the verge of history

2015 Governorship: A’Ibom at the verge of history

BY JOSEPH OKON

History has it that since the return of democracy to  Nigeria in 1999 and the advent of PDP, Akwa Ibom state has always been govern by the ruling party at the centre which was PDP. But to take a comprehensive stock on the growth and development of the state since 1999, and the impact of government at the centre in terms of projects, Akwa Ibom state has nothing to celebrate.

In 1999 when Obong Victor Attah became the governor of Akwa Ibom state and President Obasanjo was elected the President of Nigeria under the same platform of Peoples Democratic Party PDP, it could have been assumed that when the struggle for resource control that was championed by Attah came up, the president will immediately concede because they belong to the same party, but unfortunately that was never the case.

At last the messiah is here!

At last the messiah is here!

“I had learned from years of experience with men that when a man really desires a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win” (Thomas Edison)

The saying “don’t despise the little beginning” is said to galvanize momentum in Akwa Ibom State. Like Jesus who was born in a manger with crown of glories on his head and scepter of power in His hand but see not by the affluent and men of dignity but the poor wise men. The royal rumble of who becomes the first image in the State is ongoing, the die is cast, the dust is raised, but who is the anointed one? Let us not forget in a hurry what transpired in the house of Jesse when the quest of who should lead Israel was imperative. So many aspirants from Jesse’s loin lined up for the anointing but sad to say that non of them with self glory and egoism qualified.
