Communities in Akwa Ibom have experience, witness a safe, habitable Society - Sampson Idiong

The special assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on inter-ministerial direct labour, Mr Sampson Idiong has said that there is peace, security and food sufficiency in the state.

Mr Sampson Idiong made the remark in Uyo while fielding questions from your journalists. He said AkwaIbom government was poised to ensure peaceful co-existence between AkwaIbomites, sojourners and expatriates who reside in the state for business transaction.

He explained that the determination of the present administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel to beef-up security in rural areas and state capital is to get rid of illegal and unlawful practices like kidnapping, robbery, child-trafficking and cult practices which had almost became the practice of the day.

He said with eradication of such unwhole some practices by the present administration, has made AkwaIbom, the most peaceful and safe habitable society, adding that the present administration desire to make life comfortable for AkwaIbom residents, informs the state government position to embrace agriculture development for food sufficiency which he said, has reduced the cost of living in the state.

He said the rice plantation in Ini Local Government which today has made the state the number 12 rice producing state in the nation was part of the effort of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration to turn AkwaIbom an agriculture ‘hub’ instead of dependent on oil.


  He further mentioned other investments to include: the cassava plantation for production of fofo and garri which today has reduced the high cost of garri in the state and make it affordable.

  The special assistant to the governor on inter-ministerial direct labour who further mentioned other farm produce cultivated by the present administration to include, tomatoes, cucumber, cocoa and others, explained that those farm produce when fully ribbed for a full swim cultivation, will improve internal generated revenue of the state as dealers of those goods will not be travelling to others states to buy those items but will buy them in AkwaIbom and added that, that will terminate capital plight as money used in running the business will revolve within the state. Idiong while thanking Governor Udom Emmanuel on his foresight at investing and developing the agriculture sector of the state for food sufficiency, also thanked the governor for keeping to his free, qualitative and compulsory education in the state inspite of the financial challenges.

  He said the establishment of computer laboratories in all the schools in the state to aid in the development of AkwaIbom children skills in information and Communication Technology sector (ICT) is an added value to AkwaIbom children’s education.

  Sampson Idiong while calling AkwaIbom people to support the present administrations programmes and policies as no development could thrive in an atmosphere where government policies and programmes are treated in impurity, called on AkwaIbom people to support continuity of development protects of the present administration, continuity on lofty programmes of the present administration and continuity of the present administration in 2019
