UN POLAC Constitutes Advisory Council, Inaugurates Chapter Presidents

UN POLAC, an International Peace Advocacy Organization has put machinery in motion towards repositioning the group and expanding its advocacy programs in the State this year by constituting an Advisory Council, also swearing In new Chapter Presidents.

Declaring open the first 2018 general meeting of the group, the Director General, Obong Dr. Halo B. Eton, praised members for their selfless services in the past years and appealed to them to key into the new dispensation which he noted is aimed at creating greater awareness and opening vistas of understanding of the aims and functions of the group particularly to those who are yet to comprehend the philosophy of UN POLAC.

Dr. Eton showered encomiums on some Chapters for their extraordinary performances and advised others to sit up as he envisaged a rejuvenated and purposeful leadership among the new Council and Chapter Presidents.


He reminded them of the need to meet their obligations, especially in the areas of debt, registration, flag-hoisting, Chapter registration and POLAC items, noting that such will add credence to authentic members who have the zeal to perform.

The Director General announced that, as part of this year’s program, various communities will be sworn-in on February 9 and a Solemn Assembly organized on the 2nd week of March alongside other UN programs. He thanked members for attending and contributing towards the success of the first meeting and charged them to be more committed in the execution of their assigned duties.

Responding, the Chairman of the Advisory Council, Rev. (Prof) Udo Udo Odiong appreciated the Director General for the honor done them and promised to put in their best so as to take the group beyond the present level. Professor Odiong solicited for the co-operation of everybody to enable them achieve set goals.

The Advisory Council has Rev. (Prof) Udo Udo Odiong as its Chairman, Sir (Obong) Gabriel Ekere – Vice Chairman, Dr. Stephen Bassey – Secretary, Elder (Dr.) Oyokunyi, Apostle (Dr.) Henry Umo, Obong (Col) A. A. Lawrence, Hon (Princess) Aniema Uboh, Elder (Rotarian ) Mandor Eton and Dr (Mrs) Bassey Eton as members.

 The Chapter Presidents are John Akpanebe – Abak, Chief Bassey J. Okon – Atak Oro, Obonganwan Solomon Akpan - Essien Udim, Otuekong Ime Udo Essien – Ibiono Ibom, Obong (Elder) Etim U.U. Ekanem - Ikono, Ukai Udeme Emmanuel – Uyo, Chief Christopher Essien - Ikot Ekpene, Chief Peter Okon – Nsit Atai, Edu Sunday Essien – Itu, Chief Effiong Ikpa – Okobo and Etubom Nyong Ubo - Nsit Ibom.
