Mammoth Crowd as Gabriel Etim consults Abak Ward 3

The premises of Smiler Hotel, Ikot Okoro Road, Abak was filled to capacity last Wednesday as Party Chieftains, Elders, women and youths trooped out to catch a glimpse of the most popular and acceptable Chairmanship aspirant for the area, Obong Iberedem (Sir) Gabriel Etim.

The event which was the official consultation of the people of Abak Urban Ward 3 by Sir Gabriel Etim, saw the youths singing solidarity songs in support of the aspiration of Obong Sir Gabriel Etim.

Receiving the Chairmanship hopeful into the ward, the Chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abak Urban Ward 3, Mr. Ekukinam extolled the sterling qualities of Obong Gabriel Etim, describing him as a seasoned politician, a committed party man who has worked and contributed immensely to the success of the party over the years.

Addressing the gathering, Obong Etim who started by singing praises to God, expressed gratitude to God for making the day possible and thanked the people for coming out in large number despite the short notice.


Flanked by his wife, the Chairmanship Hopeful said the day was to officially inform the people of Abak Urban Ward 3 of his intention to contest the forth-coming Local Government election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Obong Etim explained that having served his people, the church and community meritoriously in different capacities, he would not fail his God nor disappoint the people of Abak is given the opportunity.

The Chairmanship hopeful pointed out that since the return of democracy in 1999, he has been supporting the party and worked for the emergence of leaders at various levels. He assured that if given the opportunity, the issue of student’s bursary which had been forgotten in the area would be revived, so that students could also enjoy dividends of democracy.

Obong Etim who is the Chairman PDP Elders Forum Afaha Obong Ward 2 promised to open new roads so as to expand the town to attract investors to come in and boost the economy.

He hinted that while serving as Education Secretary, he facilitated the employment of many people into the State Civil Service and through his business outfit, has employed many people.

Obong Etim promised to take Abak local government area to the next level of development if given the opportunity and solicited for the support of all.

Those who spoke at the occasion including; The SA to Deputy Governor, Hon Iniobng Ukwak, former Council Vice Chairman, Deacon Udeme Umanah, Former Commissioner in the State, Deaconess Christy Obot, PDP Secretary Abak Chapter, Hon. Emmanuel Eno-Jackson, Elder Jonah Ekpo among others, assured that with his excellent track record and antecedent, the people of Abak Urban Ward 3 will support his aspiration.

Some of the dignitaries who accompanied Obong Etim to the consultation included; former Councilor Secretary, Hon. Nsini Elijah, former Councilors, Hon. Friday Archibong, Hon. Ikemesit Ayara, former Board Member, Hon Eseme Essien former Supervisor, Hon Dan Udo, Councillorship aspirants, Chapter and Ward Officers of the Peoples Democratic Party among others.
The event was also witnessed by PDP Chieftains including; The PDP Woman Leader for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, Mrs. Useneno Christopher Tom among others.
