Nnamnso Udo emerges Youth President of Abak Oko Village

Last Tuesday, 28th March, 2017 might have come and gone but the memory of the said day will remains evergreen on the minds of the people of Abak Oko community in Ikot Ekpene L.G.A, as they converged on the village hall to enthrone democratically through consensus, a new village Youth President in person of Comrade Nnamnso Okon Udo.

In his opening address, the village council Chairman, Deacon Edima Umoren thanked God for keeping the village in peace even as he thanked the former youth exco of the village for completing their 3 years tenure and wished the new one a successive stay in office. He advised that the youths should always respect their parents and conduct themselves well at all times for other people to emulate them. He stated that the village had earlier elected the women wing and today was the turn of the youth which according to him were empowered to choose their leader through consensus arrangement for the sake of peace, while reiterating the support of all to the new president to succeed.

On his part, the village head, Chief Udo Ukpong (JP) Sued for peace among the youths of Abak Oko as nothing good comes through violence even as he expressed gratitude to God for his benevolence all these years. He advised them to maintain decorum in order for development to thrive rather than infighting among themselves. 


The village Secretary, Mr. Albert Udokun presented the village verdict which revealed that six (6) families out of the 8 families of the village adopted the incumbent, Mr. Nnamnso Udo to continue as youth President till 2020, also family Youth Chairmen of Nto Udo, Ikot Akpambon, Ikot Atamkpo, Ikot Udo Ntia, Nto Okpo Edem and Atai Essien endorsed for continuity leaving the council with no option than to adopt the consensus arrangement.

In his acceptance speech, the youth President Comrade Nnamnso Udo thanked the people for the confidence repose on him and extended hands of fellowship to his opponents to join him to build the village.

Speaking further to newsmen, he promised to carry all youths along as he did before, bringing dividends of democracy to them as politician he was which his opponent cannot do. He confessed that for the love of the village, he has been spending his money to repair electricity faults even as he advised his opponent to go for a paid employment as youth president Job was voluntary.

He thanked the transition Chairman of Ikot Ekpene, Hon. David Umana for providing an enabling environment for the youths to excel and promised to support his government.

Others who spoke in support of the youth president past antecedence were, Mr. Clement Udo Akpan, Vice Chairman Ward 4 PDP, Mr. Mfreke Abasi Uwemedimo – Youth Secretary, Mr. Ibanga Ukpong Udo, Mr. Nsikak Udoh – campaign manager, Mr. Nnabuk Akpan, PRO I.

Dignitaries at the event included: Mr. Nsima Udoudo, Mr. Simon Akpan, Mr. Nsisong Ebienang – President Forum of youths President, Ikot Ekpene, family heads, among others.
