First Lady lauds Ekong Sampson’s investment in Education *Describes venture as solid foundation for great future *Pledges to identify with enormous project

The wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel has commended the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson for investing in education and community development.

Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel gave the commendation at the second Inter House Sports Competition of Excellence College, IkotUnya in MkpoatEnin L.G.A., a school founded by Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson in 2014 and run tuition-free from the support of the Special Adviser and the Local Community. 
The First Lady, who was represented at the occasion by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring, Mrs. IdongesitEtiebet, noted that Excellence College had taken impressive strides, even in the face of present economic difficulties, describing it as an indication of willingness to give nothing but the best to students and the community in general.

The Governor’s wife noted the College as one of the fastest growing community secondary schools in the State. 

Her Excellency, who also used the occasion to lay the foundation stone of Martha Udom EmmanuelFemaleHostel in the College, expressed optimism that the hostel when completed, will add value to the college and the lives of the female students in general. Sheassured the College that she will personally identify with the project to its completion.


Her Excellency charged students of Excellence College, IkotUnyato reciprocate the good gesture of the founder by being good students, shun bad company and negative behaviour, and take advantage of the solid foundation in the school torise to greatness as enshrined in the Dakkada Creed.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources and Chief Host of the occasion, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson expressed gratitude to Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel for gracing the occasion. He also thanked well-meaning Akwa Ibomites whose presence at the occasion he described as a show of love.


Barrister Ekong Sampson described Governor Udom Emmanuel as a distinguished intellectual, with a coherent roadmap to drive Akwa Ibom. He also said he remained grateful to the local community and his friends for their support in establishing and sustaining the College. 

He said that the School, although tuition-free,had invested heavily in standard facilities for academics, ICT, sports and other extra-curricular activities, as well as in moral upbringing.   The Special Adviser used the occasion to appeal to Akwa Ibom people to participate fully in theNational Identity Card Scheme and the forth-coming continuous voter registration exercise.

The Chairman of the occasion, Otuekong (Barr.) Prince UkpongAkpabiosaid if other political office holders could go back to invest in their communities as Barrister EkongSampson(  OnomkpoinamMkpatEnin) had done, Government would have less work to do.

Prince Akpabiourged the parents and the Akwa Ibom community to support thecontinuity of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration, so that the Governor can consolidate on his programmes for the people. He instituted prizes in the school for outstanding sports and academic achievements.

The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Political, Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, OtuekongNseEdem, the College Principal, Mr. AmayakUko and other dignitaries who graced the occasion also paid glowing tributes to the standards attained by Excellence College, IkotUnya within its relatively short existence.
