Anchor insurance boosts FEYREP activities
The Family Empowerment and Youth Re-orientation Programme (FEYReP), the pet project of the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, has been given a boost with the donation of Five Million Naira by the Anchor Insurance Company Ltd.
 
Receiving the donation on behalf of FEYReP in her office, during a courtesy call on her by the Board of Directors and Management staff of Anchor Insurance, on Tuesday, 6th December, 2016, the Governor’s wife    expressed deep appreciation to the company for the gesture.
 
She described the gift as being very   timely, saying that it would help put smiles on the faces of the less-privileged in this season of the Yuletide.
 The First Lady was elated on being told of the many products that  the  Insurance company was floating and enjoined them to create awareness so as to enlighten women groups and  the generality of Akwa Ibom people.
 
Mrs. Emmanuel   also pledged the readiness of her Organisation to partner Anchor Insurance Company Ltd with the aim of ensuring that the people of the State benefitted from the schemes.
 
Earlier in his address, the Chairman, Board of Directors of Anchor Insurance, Dr. Elijah Akpan, while lauding the Governor’s wife for the life changing programmes being embarked upon through FEYReP - provision of shelters and clothing for widows, orphans and the socially disadvantaged, said that identifying with the needy was  virtue.
 
Describing her services to the people of the State as selfless, Dr. Akpan, who is also the Executive Chairman of Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP), said they were proud of her and had, therefore, come to identify with and partner FEYReP in ways that would further bring growth to the people.
 
Pledging their commitment to any further requirement for the success of the programme, the Chairman told his hostess that Anchor Insurance had been certified by the State Executive Council as the primary insurance services provider for Akwa Ibom State Government.
 
While pledging the company’s continued loyalty to the present State Government, Dr. Akpan used the opportunity to express deep appreciation to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, for the premier status granted the company.
 
The Chairman used the occasion to disclose that Akwa Ibom State Government owns the majority shareholding in Anchor Insurance Company Ltd, expressing the optimism that patronage by Government was the best thing that could happen to the company.
 
Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Anchor Insurance, Mr. Ademayowa Adeduro, unfolded some products being floated  by the company to include medical insurance - which is as low as 2000 Naira premium per annum, to be enjoyed by accident victims - and  could be bought into by peasants, low income earners and locals.
 
Others are Loss of Employment Income Insurance in which, according to the MD, the insured on loss of employment continues to receive the same salary he was earning while working, for up to  two years; Vehicle Insurance, which is for motorists and keke operators, among others.
 
 High points of the occasion were the presentations of a cheque of Five Million Naira to FEYReP and a plaque to the State’s First Lady by the Board Chairman of Anchor Insurance.
 
Also on the visit were Board Directors, Mr. Imo-Abasi Jacob and Mr. Nsima Jeremiah, Executive Director, Technical; General Manager, Business Development & Marketing, Mr. Uzo Oforum; Financial Controller, Mr. Kokoete Akpan; Controller, Uyo Zone, Mrs. Mary Abraham.
 
Others were Branch Manager, Uyo, Mr. Anietie Ekpo; Head of Administration, Uyo, Mr. Godwin Akang and AKICORP’s Heads of Departments of Business Development & Entrepreneurship, Mr. Emmanuel Akpan; Project Monitoring & Implementation, Mr. Sunday Ekpo.
