APC disowns Etok Ekanem * Says he is still a PDP member
New APC  strongman and former commissioner for Agriculture Professor Etok Ekanem has landed in big trouble with the founding members of the APC over what they described as Ekanem’s plot to hijack the APC, the party they funded when Etok was busy promoting the ideals OF THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In a release signed by APC youth movement in Itu and made available to THE INK reporter in Uyo, the party said, ‘’ We have watched with dismay the recent development in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in which those who did not labour for the victory of the party both at the national and state are gradually assuming place of opposition against the government of Governor Udom Emmanuel thereby warming themselves into the political centre stage of our party to assume various leadership roles.

It is regrettable to note that, the issue of becoming a registered APC member in the state especially for “the mighty”, has taken a new dimension in the state.

Instead of going through the required registration process, many “mighty men” have assumed the position of Government opponents by talking carelessly about government of the day thereby making a subtle move into the APC for political reward”.

Furthering their position the President and Secretary of the Itu APC youth movement Edidiong Ekanem and Victor Ituen respectively said, Prof Ekanem that we know does not have the interest of the people of Itu Local Government at heart. We challenge Prof. Ekanem to tell the world what agricultural development he brought to the people of the local government when he was the commissioner.

We can only describe Prof. Ekanem  as a fair weather politician who only dance around corridor of power when there things to eat. We recall that it was this same Prof Ekanem  who went on radio to urge the people of Itu  and the entire Akwa Ibom people to support power shift to Eket Senatorial District, today, he has rescinded his decision and resort into the position of an arm-chair critic.

As somebody who has travelled wide and ventured into many research areas, we had expected Prof. Ekanem , after his failed political outing in the state, to engage himself in researches that will bring solutions to agricultural problems in the country.

Prof. Ekanem over time has always made himself a-ready tool in the hands of those who wish to use him to achieve political point.

We recall too that Prof. Ekanem was one of the instruments used by the former Vice Chancellor of University of Uyo Prof Akpan Ekpo to truncate the future of some university students who engaged in a peaceful protest over high school fees”.
