Akparawa Godwin Enang now Nkwot Ward 7 Political Leader

Peace and relative calm have now returned to Nkwot II, Ward 7 in Ikono Local Government area. The new found peace was broken during the Nkwot II, ward 7 PDP Stakeholders meeting convened at the instance of the entire political structure of the ward, comprising of the stakeholders, elders, field generals, foot soldiers, unit agents and other opinion holders in the area..

In a 7-point communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the people of Nkwot II Ward 7 announced the selection of a substantive political leader in the person of Akparawa Godwin Asuquo Enang to replace the former political leader, Elder Pius Eyo Akpan who led the ward political for fifteen years. The communiqué revealed that the new leader, Akparawa Godwin Enang was the champion of the Akwa Ibom Consolidated Alliance (ACA), Calabar chapter in the last general elections and a staunch and unrepentant supporter of the state Governor, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.
The Nkwot people through the communiqué also distanced themselves from the seeds of discord sown in the hitherto united ward by the purported emergence and actions of two self-acclaimed factional political leaders of Nkwot II Ward 7, Engr Sam Ekpenyong and Hon Edet Akpan David.

They wondered aloud how and why two self-serving individuals would overtly take laws into their hands to declare themselves leaders of the ward and in the process desecrate the once peaceful haven which the ward was into a recipe for un-warranted political bickering and unhealthy rivalries. They openly disowned the two purported leaders and warned them to desist henceforth from parading themselves  as such both in formal and informal political gatherings.

In the case of Engr. Sam Ekpenyong, the Nkwot II Ward 7 Stakeholders distanced themselves from the outright display of naivety  and overt showcase of the political brinkmanship by the individual who attempted to singlehanded grant himself powers to annex another independent ward, Nkwot I, Ward 6 to form part of his purported leadership conquest. They tendered their un-reserved apologies to their brothers in Nkwot I Ward 6 on the infantile ambition of their son, Engr. Sam Ekpenyong, observing that such was just a brazen display of his lack of understanding of the dynamics of the creation of political wards for administrative purposes which is distinct from the creation of clans for traditional rulership. They wondered why he did not first fight for the creation of Nkwot Clan before laying claims to being its leader.

The communiqué further warned the two self serving and purported leaders to desist forthwith from parading themselves as the political leaders of the Nkwot ward 7. They wondered  at their motives and desperation to assume the leadership of a group of people who have stated in several quarters that both of them lacked the basic and requisite leadership skills and intellectual acumen to lead a ward as politically aware and mature as Nkwot II, ward 7.

They re-echoed the wide acceptability and popularity of their brand new political leader, Akparawa Godwin Asuquo Enang, stating that the leadership prowess, pedigree benevolence and philanthropic gesture  of the Calabar based business mogul were sure to bring calm  and peace to the political hotbed of Ntippe Ibibio which the two self serving individuals had almost turned the ward into.

The people of Nkwot II, ward 7 also passed votes of confidence on the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, the Senate Minority Leader, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, the member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives Rt. Hon Iboro Ekanem and the member representing Ikono State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Victor Udofia.

The 7 point communiqué which  was signed by many prominent leaders and elders of the ward to include the immediate past Political Leader of the Ward, Elder Pius Eyo Akpan, Hon Sylvanus Akpan, Hon Anthony Akpan Ewet, Obong Silas Udofia, Mrs Ekaette Thompson, among others further advised all parties concerned to abide by the matters herein or risk the wrath of the entire Nkwot II ward 7.
