Mrs Umanah fetes Abak women at independence - Commends First Lady on FEYReP Initiative
The wife of the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Maureen Aniekan Umanah, has described the recent launch of the Family Empowerment and Youths Re-Orientation Programme (FEYReP) by the first lady, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel, as timely and commendable.

Mrs. Umanah made this known in Abak Local Government Area, during her Independence Day outreach to widows and the less privileged, where she distributed foodstuffs, clothing and other materials worth thousands of Naira, in addition to cash gifts, a gesture she said was in support of the first lady’s agenda of building stronger family fronts.

The commissioner’s wife, who has over the years given women in the area a sense of belonging appreciated past beneficiaries of her women welfare programmes, for their ingenuity at investing in businesses that have sustained their families, cushioning them from the harsh economic realities, and promised to ensure every woman in Abak has a chance to live well.
She called on government at various levels in the State to take advantage of the FEYReP initiative, as it would avail the State best of times to make tremendous progress, since the society would be better off when families are happy, productive and healthy, while charging well-meaning Nigerians to support the success of the initiative.

On the Governor’s wife donation of hairdressing, barbing and tailoring equipments to hundreds of families, as well as start-up capitals to those willing to go into business and cash gifts to multiple birth families, Mrs. Umanah, said there could not have been a more generous way of reaching out to the families.

She charged beneficiaries of the FEYReP empowerment scheme to be judicious with what they are given, as subsequent edition of the programme would be targeted at families that were yet to benefit.

Applauding the first lady’s readiness to touch every family in the State, Mrs. Umanah reiterated that the idea was apt to restore values and confidence to families across the state especially in times like this, when crimes of child abandonment and trafficking are on all time high.

Mrs. Umanah, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Executive Options Media, used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Udom Emmanuel, on the successful celebration of the state’s 28th anniversary and his remarkable achievements in the last four months in office.

She lauded the DAKKADA spiritual rebirth and moral transformation campaign as one that will awaken patriotism and boost the peoples confidence to take active roles in the ongoing industrialization and wealth creation agenda of the administration, while calling on all to continue to support the present administration to succeed.

Congratulating Nigeria at 55, the Commissioner’s wife called on Nigerians to use the period of the independence celebration to pray for their leaders, and reflected the need for tolerance and continued unity of the country.
