Land scam rocks Uruan community ...as village head warns perpetrators

The community of Ibiaku Issiet in Uruan  Local government area of Akwa Ibom State have been invaded by fraudsters who moves around selling peoples land to the strangers without the knowledge or concern of the real owners.

Already, once a peaceful community has been branded as bad because of the activities of these youths who move around defrauding the strangers and members of the public in the name of selling land.

The evil act is said to be allegedly committed be the trio of Mssr Emmanuel Effiong Bassey, alias Emman Mkpa, Asuquo Effiong Eduok, alias Udo Ukpa and one Alex Edem Etim, alias  Udo Obo  Etuk.

Speaking with our correspondent at his palace, the village head of Ibiaku Issiet, Eteidung William Effiong Udo-Obot, flanked by his deputy, Chief Okon Edet Udo-enyin and the youth leader Mr Emediong Asuquo Oton warned anybody that want to buy land in Ibiaku Issiet seek advice from the palace of the village head in order to find out if he is doing business with the right person.


Eteidung Udo-Obot said “If any stranger or somebody that want to buy land in the village flowed the order, and pay his money to the fraudsters in the name of buying land,  they will lost the money and if any owner of the land stays in his house and see anybody bringing document to sign, he should not do it, because when the village discover it, they will be punish accordingly”.

The royal father said “It is not right for any person to sale the land that does not belong to him, and and later force the real owner to sign documents”.

He explained that the acts has brought problem to the community, which used to be very peaceful.
He added “This act is very alien to the tradition of this village, so from now, the village council has taken a decision that nobody will sell the land without the knowledge of the village council, for the interest of peace”.

The village head said that the issue has been reported to the law enforcement agencies, advised the law abiding youths of Ibiaku Issiet to remain calm, as the community leadership will stop any fraudulent acts.

Attempt to speak with the people accused was not successful as they were said to be hiding from the people they have defrauded already.
