Youths of Akwa Ibom State have been charged to earn a living with dignity by ensuring they take advantage of the laudable policy thrust of the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration in the area of sustainable youth development. Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters, Comrade Aniefiok Iwaudofia, who confirmed the Governor’s position that the youth will be seriously engaged, gave the charge at the Ibom Hall Grounds, venue of the 2015 International Youth Day, on Wednesday.

Iwaudofia, who described the theme of the event, “Youth Civic Engagement” as apt, said “I am encouraged by the fact that today; the youth are stakeholders in the Akwa Ibom project. The effort of this administration in youth development and empowerment is seriously appreciated by all of us. It is an effort we will jealously guide.”
“The era of praise singing for survival is gone. A new era of innovation has been enthroned. I really appreciate the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, who has cleared the notion of the youth being the future leaders but today’s leaders. We are today’s leaders,” he stressed.
He tasked youth of the state to be challenged by the address, “Discovering Riches in Scarcity,” presented by Professor Vincent Anigbogu, and chart a new course that will make Akwa Ibom a model for Nigeria’s economy.
The event which featured cultural displays, variety and interactive sessions, had the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, his deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko and other Commissioners in attendance.
