Kinsmen reject Akon Eyakenyi

Kinsmen reject Akon Eyakenyi
BY VICTOR UFOT

Oron Local Government Stakeholders  Forum, the apex elders organization in Oron Local government has rejected the recent announcement made on the state Government owed AKBC radio, with regards the announcement of the former minister of Land, Housing and Urban Development, Dr. (Mrs.) Akon Eyakenyi as the Political Leader of Oron L.G.A by Mr. Orman Esin, the transition committee Chairman of Oron Local Government Area. The group made up of Elder statemen from the three Zones in Oron described the purported appointed as “an exercise in futility” which they declared null and void.

The statement was contained in a release made available to THE INK reporter; the group frowned at the decision of Mr. Orman Esin to make the appointment without due consultations with the elders of the local government. They stressed that Mr. Esin was not in any way qualified and was not mandated by the stakeholders to make such statement while stressing that the former minister was not the right person to lead the local government on a capacity of political leader.

The group alleged that Caretaker Chairman was deluded by the food and drinks offered him by the former minister to make the provocative pronouncement “Mr. Orman Esin is not qualified and was not mandated by the stakeholders to make such statement, we are persuaded to believe that, Mr. Orman Esin was overwhelmed by the sumptuous entertainment which the former minister offered him during and after his swearing-in as the transition Chairman to make the pronouncement,”.

The stakeholders said that they were displeased with the decision of the former minister to accept the alleged appointment by someone whom they said was not eligible to make such vital pronouncement. The Elders urged the former minister to desist from parading herself as the political leader of the local government. In the same vein, the forum urged the general public to recognize the Senator Representing Eket Senatorial District in the person of Sir Nelson Effiong (KJW) as the political Leader of Oron.

“We are shocked and miffed that, the former minister even accepted the purported appointment by someone who is not qualified to make. Let us cease this opportunity to inform the general public and indeed the stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State that Oron Local Government has produced the present Senator representing Eket Senatorial District Sir, Senator Nelson Effiong (KJW) who should be called the political leader of Oron Local Government but since the Political leader has not made such proclamation, it is therefore laughable and ridiculous that any person or group of persons would appoint a political Leader while there is a serving Senator”.

The group added that at no time that the stakeholders of Oron local Government met to deliberate on the appointment of the Political Leader of the area and advised the Local Government Chairman to be careful with his utterances to avoid making avoidable mistakes.

The stakeholders condemned the appointment and declared it null and void, they advised supporters, admirers and indeed the political class to reject the illegal appointment of Mrs. Akon Eyakanyi as Political Leader of Oron Local Government.

The release was jointly signed by Mr. Raymond Esin, Rt. Hon. Charles Bassey, for Zone ‘A’, Rt. Hon. Effiong Edet Okon, Mr. Akwa Christopher Ekpong, while Hon. Asukwo Nyong Efiong and Prince Okon Edaha signed on behalf of Zone ‘C’.
