Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency will fare better

Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency will fare better
My Dear Constituents and friends, I stand before you today as your member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in the just inaugurated 6th Assembly.

As you are well aware, our journey to this position was not an easy one. But this was the Lord’s time (KINIABASI 2015), so in his time, he made all things beautiful and right. (Eccl. 3:11)

To this end, let us appreciate God for sustaining us thus far and giving us this joy.  It is the Lord’s doing and we return all glory to Him.
Before I proceed, let me use this forum to very sincerely appreciate my darling wife, Mrs. Ini Akpanusoh and my family who were victims of our robust campaigns. I was unavailable when they needed me most. But it was all for the good of our people. Darling, together we shall make our state constituency proud.

Let me use this opportunity to thank specifically my leader, my mentor and my Boss Hon. Sir Bassey Dan Abia, KJW the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NDDC for the immeasurable role he played towards my success during the primaries and the general Elections.  Chief Bassey Dan Abia has indeed proven that he is worth his name in gold.

Without sounding immodest, Chief Dan Abia remains my destiny provider; he understands what selfless sacrifices means and has since been a pillar for turning boys into men. My leader, for all that you have done for me and others, the almighty God will bless and reward you abundantly.

Permit me to also mention the immediate past leader of the 5th AKHA, my predecessor and my big brother Rt. (Hon.) Okpolupm Ikpong Etteh.  This is a man who stood in the gap and showed direction in the capacity he had.  My predecessor, I found in you a worthy ally.  God will bless you.

I will be most ungrateful if I do not acknowledge with gratitude the leadership of our great party the PDP in the state, in Esit Eket and Ibeno chapters. You provided me with a fair platform to achieve our victory. To my brother, the PDP chapter Chairman of Ibeno LGA, you are indeed a worthy friend and brother. For all that you did for our success, God will bless you. God will sustain you and use you for more greater exploits.

The leadership and members of KiniAbasi 2015 Campaign Organization deserve special mention. You were a family.  I am also most grateful to the Elders and Stakeholders of Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency, who weathered the storm, took risks to ensure that we are today where we are today and even to my opponents, I thank you for the challenge you posed. I have come to belief that it was all for the good and service of our state constituency.

You all are part of this victory.  Your labour of steadfastness, loyalty, dedication, love and commitment will not be in vain.  I shall make you all proud.  I will never be found wanting in my area of assignment as your representative and as a lawmaker.

Today the 6th Assembly has been inaugurated with Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Uko as the Speaker.  While I wish to congratulate my brother Aniekan Uko for his emergence, I also would like to state my loyalty to the leadership of the House.  Together, I am more than convinced that Esit Eket/Ibeno state constituency and Akwa Ibom people will benefit from this House and its leadership.

On my honour as your member, I will ensure there is a harmonious working relationship between my office and the entire leadership of the House.  I shall work in tandem with other colleagues of mine for the betterment of our collective desires.

We shall partner with His Excellency, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel our Executive Governor towards his desire of sustaining worthy legacies for the state.
Fellow constituents and friends, as you all know, the business of legislation is primarily about making and passing Laws.  The legislature thus remains an elected body saddled with the primary responsibility of making laws for good governance of the society.  I will in this regard contribute my utmost best towards making better governance for Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency and Akwa Ibom at large by sponsoring bills that will better our lives and constituency.

Besides sponsoring and co-sponsoring bills, I will follow up and implement to the later our campaign promises. And will also capitalize on my relationship with the leadership of the House to attract life touching projects and dividends to our constituents.

As we begin today, I will ensure that the packages we promised you are holistic and delivered accordingly.  We shall proceed with a free transport scheme to ferry our members to and from the state capital.  Two buses will be provided with one serving Esit Eket and the other Ibeno.

Like we did promised, our packages shall cut across the elderly, the women, youths and the less privileged.  We shall all witness remarkable touches in the lives of our constituents in no distant time from now.  Some of our packages include but not limited to free medicals for our aged parents, grandparents, pregnant women and nursing mothers, provision of soft loans without collateral for micro and small scale businesses, proper empowerment of our people, provision of basic amenities like water, electricity and grading of roads.

Since we know that the future of our constituency is in the hands of our youths and students (BUILD THE YOUTHS MAINTAIN THE ELDERS) we shall ensure that we provide scholarships to our students.  My office shall assist students with study grants.

These empowerments would cut across all the wards in Esit Eket/Ibeno state constituency.

I intend to run an Esit Eket/Ibeno state constituency where there will be an improved rural road network, hygienic water supply, provision of soft loans for traders and service providers, giving the primary health care due attention, training and sensitization of artists and craftsmen, remodeling of all forms of agriculture to make them highly productive.  These and more will be our collective achievements.

Few weeks from now, I shall inaugurate Esit Eket/Ibeno advisory committee.  This committee shall function as a steering committee in advising on how we will succeed.  Members of the Committee shall be people of proven track records.  It shall have representatives from the elders, religious leaders, traditional institutions, the party, former legislators from the state constituency, women, youths and students.

At this point, I would like to appeal to my constituents that we should eschew all forms of bitterness, hatred, blackmail and join hands together with us to build an Esit Eket and Ibeno state constituency which we will all be proud of.

Let me also appeal that we do away with mundane things and support our Governor Deacon Udom Emmanuel as he steers the ship of leadership of our state to greater heights.

It is my belief that Udom Emmanuel has all it takes to take our state to the next level.  He is God sent to our people and a man on whose shoulders rest the economic prosperity of our dear state.  God is going to use Udom Emmanuel to bless our economy; I implore all of us to rise up and join in this coming blessings.
To my predecessor, let me once again thank you for raising the bar of legislation in this State Constituency.  I will make you proud and you shall not be disappointed.
In conclusion, let me assure you all of my determination to abide by the tenets of democracy which is government of the people, for the people and by the people.  As I sign into office today; I will leave Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency better than I inherited it.  You shall be satisfied you voted for me.
I thank you for listening.

God bless and grant you all journey mercies.

Being a speech by Rt Hon (Dr) Usoro Samuel Akpanusoh, Member Representing Esit Eket/Ibeno State Constituency on the occasion of his reception as a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, 8th June 2015
